Advantages Advantages Basic white plastic jug kettle from a mainstream company. Rapid boil, concealed element, 1.5 litre

Disadvantages Disadvantages A few design issues, can wobble too much, plastics not the best, not heat insulated well.

When I won this kettle in a competition in 2007 I was very surprised to have won it initially – I seldom win anything when I do competitions but as it turned out, the Morphy Richards Filtermaster III came at a good time when our last second back up kettle decided to die. The Filtermaster kettle as it is known carries extra numerals of "III" to emphasize the latest model and the fact that it has a rapid boiling time thanks to the 3kw maximum powered element. Just like the model tag "Turbosteam" which can be remembered and attributed to Morphy Richards' range of steam irons, the name ... more

Advantages Advantages Very fast boiling, quiet, large handle and button, cheap, 360 degree connector

Disadvantages Disadvantages Filter placement bad, ergonomics could be better, element bits, quality issues

I bought this kettle as a replacement to an old Kenwood filter one. What I immediately noticed is how fast this boils water for, say, a pot of tea. It really is much faster than lower power kettles. But there is a trade-off for this speed, and that is electricity usage! This kettle is rated at 3.1KW, that is 3,100W. Now compare that to the average lightbulb of 60W, and you can see that to keep the electricity bill down you won't want to be re-boiling water too often! I've read other reviews of quick-boil kettles and nearly all of them (especially Philips kettles) mention how loud they are. But ... more

Advantages Advantages Boils quickly, looks smart

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I have just been to make myself a cup of hot chocolate and whilst the kettle was boiling I realised that I hadn't done a review about it! I do find myself looking at things in terms of writing reviews these days - how sad is that? Anyway the kettle we currently have is a Morphy Richards Filtermaster in green to match the kitchen of course! As you can see from the picture at the top of the review it is also available in white. It is a jug kettle and currently costs £17.99 in Argos. The kettle has a clear, easy to read water gauge down each side and holds a maximum of one and a half litres of ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Quick heating, limescale filter fitted

Disadvantages Disadvantages Decolours easy, build up of limescale

Having had one of these kettles for a couple of years I feel I have enough experience for a small review. So, the main advantage with this is that it is apparently super-quick at boiling water. Not wanting to believe everything I am told, I have compared it with a new kettle my sister brought. Indeed, it beat the pants of her bog-standard "normal" device. The rapid heating I think works by having a massive round metal heater with a large surface area in the bottom of the kettle, instead of a filament. This kettle is available in the majority of electrical retailers, and little changes keep on ... more
