...Morphy Richards 45470 Professsional Fryer I had an old white plastic looking Deep Fat Frier from my university days and it was looking a bit dated next to my new kettle and Microwave. This deep fat frier looks the part entirely, you do not feel that you have to hide it away from view (unless you are having jamie Oliver around for tea). While the frier is remarkably it has a surprisingly large capacity frying basket easily allowing a sizable portion for four or more people (depending on your appetite). Another nice feature is the easy cleaning, the fryer is entirely dismantable with the lid and basin being entirely dishwasher safe. I would suggest that you purchase a filter for the oil when you drain the basin for washing as the oil will last twice as long and food taste better if the oil is filtered often instead of just putting... ...I bought this deep fat fryer just over a year ago from Amazon.co.uk for about £50. It is a very good quality fryer with variable temperature control up to 190 degrees, and is an attractive brushed steel design. There is also an on-off button and a red indicator light which turns off when the required temperature has been reached. The basket can hold about 1.2kg of food, which is slightly more than most domestic fryers. It is very effective and cooks food well. It also heats up quickly. The fryer packs away neatly as the handle folds cleverly inside without touching the oil, so that the removable lid can cover it. You have to wait for several hours after using it before it is cool enough to put the lid back on. The main bowl lifts out for easy cleaning and the basket is dishwasher safe. ...and in silver finish if possible So not too difficult I thought. Well to start with most of the silver rectangular ones look they would be at home in a staff canteen. Most of the metal finish ones don’t have cool walls either. The temperature control wasn’t too difficult, nor was the replaceable filter as most of the decent ones have those. The easiest to clean seem to be the ones with the removable oil pod and quite a few have a viewing window. Why I chose the Morphy Richards 45075: --------------------------------------------------------- It had all the features in my list above, plus it has this neat little basket trick… you get 3, 1 large one that is the length and width of the fryer give or take a few mm plus you get 2 half size baskets. This doesn’t seem to be much until you start to use it. No more dropping onion rings in the midst... Read review
