I recently bought the Morphy Richards 47010 Mr Cappuccino from Tescos (www.tesco.com) for £49.97.
The brand name Morphy Richards came from the two founders Donal Morphy and Charles Richards who set up the company in 1936, in my personal experience the brand seems well trusted and produces quality goods, this helped a lot with my decision to buy one of their products. It's always good to buy from somewhere you know and trust especially if they have a helpful website or helpline such as Morphy Richards (www.morphyrichards.co.uk) in case you have any problems with any goods you have purchased from the brand in question.
As I have a converted garage as my room I didn't really want to keep going back and for to the house just to get another cappuccino so that was my initial reason for buying it, and I'm very glad I did, I thought it was a fairly reasonable price considering it's quality and the fact that I have seen lots of coffee machines at double the price. It has a 1.4 litre built in water tank and a capacity of 10 cups which is perfect, I don't think anyone drinks more than 10 cups of coffee a day, I would be seriously worried if someone did, and after a day I tend to wash it out and refill it with water just to ensure it's kept clean. It also has a water level indicator just so you know where to fill it up to.
As I haven't had the machine for very long I can't really comment on the durability but it's going good so far and it came with a two year warranty. It's pretty easy to use as long as you take some time to flick through the manual, and if you happen to accidently through the manual out with the box then you can print a new one off at www.morphyrichards.co.uk.
The machine is easy to clean and maintain and the manual gives you all the information you need to help with how to clean the device. It has a drip tray which is perfect for messy pups and a coffee strength control if you're fussy about your coffee like me. It's great how you can get the "Starbucks" taste in you own home especially as it has a milk frother. Frothy milk on top of a perfectly made cup of coffee is the best thing since sliced bread!
The machine uses ground coffee and can make Espressos, Cappuccino and filter coffee, what more could you want? It has a 3.5 safety bar pressure valve, a warming plate and takes under 8 minutes to brew a brilliant cuppa. Not too big and not too small (depth - 42cm, height - 27cm, width - 32cm) it fits fantastically into any kitchen and looks very modern with its black chrome finish.
I can't think of any disadvantages at all, it's brilliant, it has the looks, the good price tag and the excellent quality, I really don't believe that anyone would want any other coffee maker after experiencing Mr Cappuccino.
Advantages: Produces good coffee, hot plate, 3 in one Disadvantages: Awkward to fill, espresso machine not that powerful
I had this coffee machine bought for me 1 and a half years ago and it is still fully functional and producing as good a coffee as it ever has. The espresso it produces it very nice but you don;t really get that good a crema as the machine isn't that powerful. The filter is also very good and ca produce a big quantity in about 15 minutes which I have found very useful when hosting parties. The hotplates are very useful because when I am doing other ... ...at a good temperature when I go and get my filter or espresso. The jugs are very sturdy as they haven't broken yet however the lids are quite weak so I have to be careful about that. It is quite awkward pouring water into the filter coffee reservoir and I have spilt it a few times. ...
