5 Stars Giving Head To A Cup Of Coffee Review with images 27/09/2003

Advantages Advantages A 'central station' for coffee making. Smart standard of construction.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Short mains lead. Easy to drop wet grounds.

We don’t normally go in for electrical kitchen gadgets that will only perform one task; even our toaster has a defrosting rack too. Yes, I know kettles only boil water, but ours is also a filter jug, so there! It therefore comes as some surprise to me that I’m writing about something that will only make coffee, but it’s the nature of the coffee that counts here. Both Ruth and I love our coffee; maybe in some past life, we weren’t English, as our tea use is only about 1/10th of our hot drink consumption. When eating out, I frequently opt for a cappuccino style coffee, either dusted with ... more

4 Stars Not as excellent as I first thought... Review with images 20/09/2006

Advantages Advantages Coffee cup heater, Interchangable inserts, foamy coffee, solid construction... I could go on.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Drips water and pressure sometimes become too great.

This coffee machine is absolutely brilliant. I paid approx. £50 for it and in return got a 3 year warranty (though believe that this was for limited time only and usually comes with a two year warranty) and one excellently built coffee machine. Its made in stainless steel for the most part, it comes with a coffee scoop and interchangeable inserts for the coffee depending on whether you are intending on making one or two cups of coffee. You can also use the steamer to make cappuccino. I use mine at least 3 times a day every day as I drink alot of coffee and therefore need a machine that is up ... more

Advantages Advantages Stylish practical chrome finish. Mature design. Good coffee

Disadvantages Disadvantages All these machines need regular cleaning to keep them working well

I have the older version of this current model and it's obvious the company has made some minor but very practical cosmetic changes, hence I would describe this machine as an evolved now mature design. The machine makes a good expresso with a good crema. The machine is easy to use and clean, it has not been affected by any corrosion or rush, the metal parts are good quality. I think it looks stylish and is about the right size. Some plastic bits have chipped on my older model but this latest model has substituted those parts with metal items. My machine had performed very well for over 2 years ... more

3 Stars Quick review of Morphy Richards 47505 by Lochiel 14/12/2008
Not a bad machine but not nearly as good as our Gaggia Classic. The coffee basket is small, and the steam pump is slow to get up to pressure. We had to replace a the plastic washer above the basket after a couple of years' use, and the replacement (which took months to arrive from Morphy Richards) was not a satisfactory fit. The machine is priced reasonably, but that could be the only consideration for preferring the Roma over the Classic.

Advantages Advantages Good coffee, Nice looking

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not found yet

I love coffee and this machine does extract well the flavour from almost all the different coffee brand I tried (espresso coffee). The best were the ones I bought in Italy, quite difficult to find the right quality at a good price in UK. The price is very good for a 15 bars, the looking is great as well. The only drawback is the plastic part in the percolator but it seems to give the creamy aspect of the coffee. The coffee always has the taste and aspect of a good Italian espresso. Nothing to add it is a very good machine. I am not working for Morphy Richards and do not intend to!!!! That is a ... more
