This coffee maker was a replacement direct from Morphy Richards for our 47505, which died of terminal dripping from the frothing nozzle (nasty way to go...)
I was delighted when Morphy Richards told us they would be replacing with a newer model, because I'm shallow like that.

Ease of use No espresso machine is that easy to use is it? One area where this machine could be improved is the control buttons. It has an on/off switch (boring but essential) and a hot water/steam selector, which is pressed in for steam, out for coffee (except when it isn't, of which more later) . I think I would have prefered a seperate button for each function, but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it.
So, the sequence of use goes something like this - fill it with water, then switch on. The water goes into a reservoir that clips on the back, and holds 36 cups worth, if you can fill it. (I can't, the angle of my tap won't allow it!) Then you switch it on, the funky blue light in the middle shows a wam-up symbol.
You put your ground coffee or coffee pod in (note, it comes with a coffee pod holder, but we have found that the pods brew better if you use the 2 cup filter holder instead.) When the cup shows in the blue light, slide the knob down to the coffee setting and your coffee is dispensed with a rather satisfying pumping noise.
Now comes the (potentially) confusing part, you push the hotwater/steam selector to steam, and wait for the steam symbol in the blue light to stop flashing. Then slide the lever up and loads of lovely steam froths up your milk (don't forget to put a jug of milk under it, or you could get a nasty scald.) I know that doesn't sound confusing, but if the wrong button is pressed, or the lever slides the wrong way or something you get hot water for topping up drinks or making tea instead. so you need to pay attention. Again, this could have been overcome by seperate buttons, but then I suppose it wouldn't look so scrummy.
The top of the machine acts as a warming tray, should you feel the need for such a device. Generally we don't.
Maintenance.
The exterior of the machine wipes clean (take care after use as it is hot, hot hot! ) Filters should be rinsed by hand - none of the machine should go in the dishwasher although the coffee measuring scoop regularly goes in ours. The drip tray gets quite full and needs emptying after every couple of uses as the machine drips a lot after the coffee making has finished. Morphy Richards recommend descaling if you live in a hard water area.

Advantages: Excellent coffee and milk frothing Disadvantages: early failure
I bought a Morphy Richard 47507 coffee machine just over 2 years ago, at 1 year and 1 week the display failed, but it was rapidly replaced by the company. The replacement broke down within the following 11 months, it stopped water production after half a cup and just steamed and became very hot. Unfortunatly it was over the 2 year guarantee period, which is based on the purchase date of the original coffee machine ??? As a coffee maker it made excellent ...

Advantages: braaly good Disadvantages: leaks at the froth attachment
An excellent machine if only the froth attachment swivel arm screw had some sort of washer to stop the steam coming rushing out. This is no doubt what happened to the other reviewer's old machine prior to being replaced. My sister in law gave me it, still under guarantee, as it was taking up space and not being used. Spent last night soaking up the mess as the froth attachment leaked everywhere. I eventually made a washer out of a piece of plastic ...

Quick review of Morphy Richards 47507 ROMA
It was a great machine until it breaks....
Can't get it repaired and very bad customer service. Had to wait 2 months to receive a simple rubber seal. At the end the seal is not ok...
If you want to take the risk, get ready to loose your money. Apparently the seal is very bad and it beaks every year.
Says it all !!! ...
