I don't normally jump on the gadget bandwagon but i saw these being heavly advertised about 3 years ago and i fell into the trap of thinking i would become mrs domestic baking my own fresh bread so my mum bought me one for christmas. So about 2 weeks later i remembered i had it and decided to give it ago. First you have to make sure you get all the ingredients you need for basic bread you need; Skimmed milk powder butter sugar ( brown or white) salt strong white flour dry yeast If you keep these ingredients stocked up you can always make the basic white bread. When you first open the box the unit looks quite smart it is silver and black when you open the unit up you will find all the bits and bobs you need to use; Measuring cup Measuring spoon Kneading blade Baking pan Instructions and recipes The control panel on the top of the unit is very easy to use and understand. I would recommend that you read the instructions before using but im not that patient and just got stuck in!!!!!!! First i made a basic small white bread i followed the recipe and put the ingredients in the way they were written and remembered to put the kneading blade in first!! Then close the lid and put your settings in. Depending on the recipe you use it will tell you what setting to use. There is also a delay timer so you can put the ingredients in at night and wake up to the smell of fresh bread. So when you put your setting in it will tell you how long it will take before its ready. you can just leave it and let it do its thing every now and then you will hear it mixing. When it is finished it will beep leave it too cool down a bit and be careful when you take the baking pan out as it is very hot. The bread should just fall out of the pan easily. A draw back to this model is the rotating blade can get stuck in the bread so you have to gently ease it out, otherwise you will have a big hole in the middle of your loaf!! The recipe book is full of different ideas, the only thing is if you want to make rolls you have to take the dough out and shape it and put it in your oven which i think misses the point. You bought a bread maker to make it easier to make bread!!!! It can also be fun to experiment and make up your own recipes. It is very easy to clean, Storage can be a problem as it is a bit bulky. I must admit i go through phases of using this i suddenly remember its there and will use it, then i forget about it again. All in all it is a good thing to have but it proberly will get relegated to the loft.
