It's lovely to be back and see some familiar faces and some new ones too. I wish this rain would clear up - I can't get the dog out of her bed!

I have had my original Morphy Richards breadmaker for two years and it was still in good working order but when I saw a new model in Robert Dyas, I had to go and investigate. The new model on display was boasting a drop down paddle which meant no more gaping holes in your bread after you have removed it from the tin. That has to be a plus!
The fact that the price had been reduced from £70 to just under £50 swayed my decision. My current which model could be passed onto a grateful family member.
As I unpacked this very good looking silver machine, I found an instruction book, guarantee card (for two years) and the measuring cup and spoons. The instruction book is very clear and is full of interesting recipes which include cake and jam. There are a list of baking cycle times and you can make a fast loaf in 1 hour should you wish. A normal loaf will take about 3 hours.
This breadmaker is a little bulkier than my last machine and bakes a 1.5lb or a 2lb loaf. On the top of the machine are control panel buttons and a little window so that you can watch the progress of the baking. There is a tim delay button used to delay the start of the bread making, a colour button for selecting crust colour, a menu button for choosing the bread making program for the list 1-12, loaf size button and a start / stop button.
There is also a Trouble Shooting guide should things not go according to plan. If you still have a problem there is a helpline number to cal. Should you need it there is also a number to call for replacement parts.
I was slightly annoyed to find a big sticker stuck on the side of the machine. After removal it took me quite a few attempts to clean off the remaining glue.
The first thing I made in my new machine was a malt loaf. As I put the bucket into the machine for the bake, I did find it a little stiff to twist into place. I am sure that this will ease up with use. In under 3 hours I had my delicious malt loaf. (Highly recommended).
There is still a small folded down paddle to remove but the damage to the loaf is not as great as in the old model.
I did find it very difficult to untwist the bucket, especialy when the machine was very hot. I had to use quite a bit of strength and wear ovan gloves. I am hoping that this too will ease with use.
Since the malt loaf I have made a perfect brown loaf, a cheese and onion loaf (from a mix) and am currently baking a brown bread with walnuts loaf to use for packed lunch sandwiches.
I can honestly say that I am very pleased with my machine.
