Review of "Morrison, (WM) Supermarkets"
I worked on checkouts and in the kiosk mainly but helped out on shop floor too.
The pay is pretty good with decent benefits, it used to be time and a half for sundays too. Decent training, you can train up on different departments and work your way up when there's vacancies. They have a decent holiday system too.
A downside is that if you're on an 8 hour shift on checkouts it can fo really slowly, especially if you're on the self scan tills! This applies to any supermarket though.
When sharing tills you can be disciplined if the till doesn't cash up right, this happened a lot especially in the kiosk. The customer service desk is combined with the kiosk so when it's busy it's a nightmare. The plus side when it's busy is that it goes quickly.
The uniform has improved since i worked there. They used to subsidise the staff canteen, the food was pretty good, great value.
They also don't employ store cleaners so staff have to do it. That means that if you're finishing after store closing time you'll be cleaning the front end. Most contracts are very part time but there's always overtime available. You also do the same shifts every week unlike other supermarkets.
Be aware that at christmas all staff are expected to do overtime (you can pick shifts) regardless of working hours or commitments.
