I, like most people, joined the glut of loyalty schemes when they were launched eons ago for the sake of saying I have a loyalty card. Since then, I only really use 3 of them, the Morrisons scheme being one.
The Card -------------- Easily identifiable luckily! It is in Morrison's corporate black and yellow colours with motoring related logos on the front. Quite frankly, if you have one, you will instantly recognise it is Morrisons Miles card!
Registration ----------------- Simply, you don't! If you don't have a card, just ask for one next time you fill up or ask the cashier who will issue one to you. And that's it! No form filling and because you do not ive any personal details, Morrisons cannot register your fuel filling habits. Consequently, because the 'account' is open so to speak, if you lose your card you have had it! There is no way you can retrieve the account on another card and whoever finds your lost card instantly becomes the owner and gains any points on the card. I personally think that, for the above reason, once given a card, that card number should be registered and held on file so a replacement could be issued if required.
Points Gain and Redemption ---------------------------------------- This is the next easy bit. Everytime you fill up before or after the weekly shop as is your habit (assuming), present your card when you pay. The cashier will swipe your card and the points will be added. If you wish to know your balance, a kind cashier will swipe and tell you, alternatively look at the customer display of the till as the transaction is completed. BUT BE QUICK! The info does not last long and the points are not recorded on the receipt if yu are lucky enough to get one of those!
The points are issued against every LITRE of fuel bought. This differs from most other schemes and is the one reason I started with this one. With the Tesco Clubcard, a point is given for every pound spent just like in their store. At Morrisons, you gain 15 points per litre. You need 4995 points to get your reward which works out at 333 litres. So Tesco effectively give approximately £3.75 of points depending on the cost of the fuel against Morrisons £5 for the same amount. This has been worked out against the approximate cost of 94.9p per litre.
From that stat the scheme looks a good one. The choice of rewards then looms into the equation. You can choose between a £5 Morrisons voucher or.....er...... a £5 Morrisons voucher! This really is the ultimate loyalty card because you are buying Morrisons fuel and the reward can only be spent in a Morrisons food store.
Oh, nearly forgot. When you get to 4995 points, the voucher is issued there and then in the petrol kiosk. So if you know you will get one the next visit, fill up first, get your voucher then spend it against your shopping. The voucher can be used immediately, no waiting for the post or for the voucher number to be logged onto a computer system. I will say that it does not state on the voucher of any restriction on the number of vouchers that can be redeemed in one transaction. So you could save them up and have a really good shop that in real terms costs nothing! (except for the fuel you had to buy for the vouchers)
Improvements --------------------- Collection of points is restricted to fuel only. There has been debate through other reviews of widening this card across the store. I think that would be detrimental for the following reasons. 1. It would just be like any other card if that happened. Morrisons have a fairly unique scheme here and it is a selling point. 2. If it did extend the scheme, the number of points issued would be debated. Do they have a tier system based on what you spend instore or bring it all into line at a point per pound spent on everything.
I do suggest, however, that they could issue bonus points against motoring products that are rarely bought such as engine oil and fuel additives. These are mainly stocked in the fuel kiosks so would be prominent to the target audience. Also, to encourage use (and profit) from the car wash, points could be issued for those lazy cleaning drivers who would not baulk at £5 a time to wash the car if it saved 30 minutes, 3 buckets of water and a bad back!
So there we are. One happy motorist gaining points in a scheme where the fuel is amongst the cheapest around. OK, so the reward is forced upon you rather than having choice and unless you travel the country every week, it will take the average driver three months or so to get a reward. But from experience, it is worth it because Morrisons are known for value and are one of the few supermarkets where you can sing as you shop. that in itself is a good enough reason for me!!
Advantages: Money off your shopping Disadvantages: Only for petrol
Miles More Points
The Morrisons Miles loyalty scheme is available in Wm Morrison Supermarket petrol stations. (And should soon be available in the Safeway stores, now that Morrisons have brought the company)
The Miles card is black and yellow, and in a plastic credit card style. It has a magnetic stripe on the back, and a card number on the front, along with a cryptic picture of a petrol pump, a pound sign, and a shopping trolley. You don't need ... ...do anything about it.
Morrisons claim this is the best value petrol points scheme around. When compared with the Nectar scheme, this seems to be true. With Morrisons, 333 litres will give you 4995 points which is equal to a five pound voucher. However with Sainsburys, 1 litre will get you 1 point, and you need 500 points to get £2.50 off your shopping. You would have to fill up with 1000 litres to get five pound off your shopping. (500 litres if ...

...all but given up on Morrisons as a supermarket. I'm tired of their bread being stale the day after I've bought it, finding some hideous stuff growing on my yoghurts and their so-called fresh items clearly showing signs of a spell in a freezer. But their Morrisons Miles scheme is very fair and one that I always take advantage of. It's easy to join up and as soon as you've got yourself a little black and yellow piece of credit-card sized plastic (yes, ... ...you earn up to 15 Morrisons Miles with every litre of fuel you purchase. Why they say "up to" I do not know. I'm assuming petrol gets you more than diesel? I'm not sure about that. Will have to ask the next time I fill up the tank and report back. Anyway, once you've collected the best part of 5,000 (4,995 to be precise) on a single card - which means you've purchased 333 litres of fuel... no, don't stop to think how much that cost - you get a £5 ...

What’s the deal?
This is a customer loyalty scheme. You buy your petrol at Morrison’s Petrol stations, conveniently located on the same sites as their shops. When you pay, they swipe a card, and give you points. When you have enough points on your card, they give you a £5 shopping voucher. You use the voucher in their shops, to get £5 off your shopping bill.
How do you get a card?
When you go to pay for your petrol, you ask for a card. They take ... ...you. There is no form filling or registration required.
What do I get?
Snazzy yellow and black card. If you like bumble bees you’ll love this. If not, it’s just kind of bright. There is a card number on it, and a magnetic strip. Nothing to identify it as being yours though.
What happens if I forget my card?
Ask for a receipt showing your points for that transaction. You can then take the receipt and your card with you next time you buy petrol, ...

Advantages: Best value loyalty card Disadvantages: Only available on petrol, lost card means lost balance
What ever you think of Morrisons quality of service since the Safeway takeover, they should be congratulated for the "Morrisons Miles" scheme. Joining the scheme is very easy - you just pick up a card from the petrol station (no forms to fill in).
The concept is that 15 of the miles are awarded for every litre of fuel purchased at a Morrisons petrol station. Once 333 litres have been purchased (or 4995 miles have been "banked"), you receive a voucher ... ...There is the risk for Morrisons that people buy the petrol, but only redeem the voucher at Morrisons and do their main shopping elsewhere.
The most important point is the value for money. If you were to purchase the same 333 litres of fuel at a Shell petrol station, you would only receive £2.22 in vouchers. The other supermarkets running fuel promotions generally reward for the transaction value rather than in litres, but if you consider unleaded ...

Quick review of Morrisons Miles Card
I have a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card and I get 5 points for every £4 spent at Tesco. Eventhough I get extra 1 point for every £4 spend compared to a standrd Clubcard, I worked out Morrisons is still cheaper and better here is my calculation
(333 litres equals £5 with Morrisons)
Petrol price: £1.029 as at 13/10/08 in Bradford (West Yorkshire):
£1.029 * 333 = £342.657 (£342.66 spent at morrisons to get £5 voucher)
So Tesco would give a voucher for £3 (£3.42), to a normal Clubcard Customer
But a Clubcard Credit Card would get approx £4 (£4.28).
In my opinion stick to Morrisons unless the price exceeds £1.509 per litre of Derv or Petrol or £1.209 per litre if you have the Clubcard Credit Card.
Hope this helps. ...

Advantages: Price, Store, Everything Disadvantages: 15 miles away
The 15 Mile journey to morrisons, passing other stores like Sainsbury's, Tesco and Co-op is worth it.
All of our family likes the occasional trip to morrisons. The low prices are great, the food is excellent quality, the offers are amazing, and the bakery smells and tastes gorgeous! What else is there to say.
The fuel at morrisons is very good value, and the morrisonsmilescard is excellent if you buy fuel from morrisons regurley!
The store in woking has a nice feel to it - Tiled floor throughout the store, Well lighted, in - store radio, strong carrier bags, friendly staff all add to the service at Morrisons at woking!
3 Facts
1. Cheap
2. Good Quality
3. Stores Well Layed Out
Morrisons is better than tescos and sainsbury's for sure! ...
Advantages: Good product range, Market Street lay out, excellent fruit & veg. Disadvantages: can get very crowded,.
Morrisons take more trouble with the style and layout of shops and does not have the same wharehouse feel as other supermarkets. Staff seem to be well trained and freindly. They have a wide product range and special offers are genuine. Fruit and veg is generally excellent and there is usually a good choice of potato varieties which is unusual. Good provision for disabled shoppers although the excellent disabled parking bays are misused and there does not seem to be any attempt to discourage misuse. There has been some loss of quality recently with own brand ready meals. Cafe has a good range of good value meals and drinks but due to popularity it can involve a long wait at peak times. For regular shoppers the christmas savings card is excellent and gives the equivalent of 6% interest on £100 saved over the year. The MorrisonMilescard ...

have a MorrisonsMilescard, and by filling up at the petrol station at the stores, you collect points which can be exchanged for £5 Morrisons vouchers to use in-store.
Special Offers?
Morrisons has quite a few special offers going on. And unlike Tesco, all the promotion ends/stacks have a sign on telling you when the offer ends, so you know wether to stock up or not.
They have over 1000 offers every week, but I have to admit, there isn?t as many buy one get one free offers as Sainsbury?s.
Overall
Since opening it?s doors, I have found Morrisons to be a very good place to shop, and until Tesco cough up my 10% staff discount card, then theres nothing to keep me away from other stores. Saying that, nearby Sainsbury?s is very good, and its customer levels have'nt changed at all since The Big Yellow M came to the area. But yes, I ...
