Morrisons V Safeway.
Well thats the debate in my local town at the moment.
Safeway
Nice happy staff with lots of BOGOF (buy one get one free) offers, store a little run down and dark. Free trolley.

Morrisons
Well lit well placed products, not so cheap and not so happy helpful staff even though quite confusingly some of them are the same!!! Not so free trolley.

I went shopping at my new local Morrisons about a week after it had been re-opened. I knew that both my local safeway and Tescos did not charge for the use of their trollys so went off to shop with nothing but my debit card and car keys. I was quite suprised to see that i had to pay for the trolley (I did not object, just surprised) and a little embarrased that i did not have any coins to use. I went to the customer service desk and explained my pridicament- the lady gave me £1 but only once i had signed and given an address to be contacted so they could collect the money!!!! Do the trolley porters not have a key to unlock them (like at Asda)? As i was doing my shopping i was having visions of big baliff men dressed in a straw boater (Morrison uniform) knocking my door down for £1.00.
Although i found the store plesant to shop around i couldnt find many of my usual goods and the ones i did find i remembered seeing cheaper in Tesco the week before.
When speaking to one of the staff members who i have got to know slightly over the years of shopping in Safeway she said alot of the staff were fed up with the changes and some that had been there for years were leaving, they felt sad that that particular store had been taken over by Morrisons and not one of the other more staff and customer friendly supermarkets like Sainsburys or Waitrose.
I'm not sure if I will return there to do my shopping-maybe if they have some good offers!!
