tracker deal - theyll be paying me soon!

Advantages: quick mortgage
Disadvantages: new deals can be uncompetative

...have had a mortgage with Abbey for over two years now. I got a buy to let tracker deal with £250 cash back. (Looking back this turned out to be an excellent choice with the current financial situation) Prices ---------- When i was looking for a mortgage this was the best by far although on other occassions when ive needed a mortgage the deals available werent particually attractive. I would suggest using an independant advisor to find the best ...
...by the mortgage department at abbey to see how my mortgage was going. The mortgage adviser at Abbey National was efficient, courteous and had the information i required. Overview ------------- The Abbey have been the best mortgage company i have had for service and speed. I am now paying a really low rate for my house (but it is unlikely this kind of offer would be available today). I cannot reccomend this mortgage company highly enough. ...

Halifax Mortgages

Advantages: good for 1st time buyers
Disadvantages: did not offer a good rate after fixed term ended, overcharge customers

...of having a mortgage with Halifax and am not reviewing Halifax and it’s services as a whole. I am very much aware that for some they have had a great experience with them, but for me after being a loyal customer for such a long time. I felt that they had let me down and recently I realised that I had overpaid when my mortgage came to an end and successfully received a refund from them. Halifax is a leading building society and has been providing ...
...of Halifax for over 10 years as my parents insisted when I was younger that I had a Building Society savings account (at the time it was the Little Extra Club) so that when the time came for me to get on the property ladder, it would make it easier to get a mortgage if I already had an account with them. So the time came in 2001 when my now husband and I went to Halifax for our first mortgage. We chose Halifax as they were very competitive at the ...

mortages

Advantages: uncomplicated ,very informative with every step of the way with my mortage
Disadvantages: none so far

I live in a rented 3 bedroomed semi- detatched from the council , I work 18 hours a week and wanted to purchase my house the Bank Of Scotland had no problem as long as I could prove I could afford the mortage most other leanders wouldnt touch me not even my own bank ,so if it wasnt for The Bank Of Scotland I wouldnt be buying my house and joing the house ladder. As with most people I dont know much about mortages but with this bank they were patient ...
..., the interest rates and other usefull stuff they were very informative and good all round . They even gave my a ring to see if I had sorted out my building and house contents insurance and offered me a discount for using them and also for joining both insurances together.so for any one confused about mortages these were brilliant and also a very good interest rate. ...

Woolwich Open Plan Mortgages

Advantages: Payoff chunks of mortgage whenever you want. Offsetting saving accounts, interest calaculated daily
Disadvantages: Can be tempted to borrow to the max

We've had a Woolwich Open Plan mortgage for just over seven years. On the whole we have been very satisfied. The mortgage work by allowing you to set up a number of accounts and under Woolwich a number of saving pots, ie mini accounts that cannot be overdrawn, which can be offset agai9nst the mortgage. In simple terms this means all of these funds are taken off the mortgage total and interest is then calculated on the result. We set up pots for a ...
...being run by our local Woolwich branch we had only one problem. Initially our mortgage was mostly interest only, with an element of repayment. When we paid off a chunk of our mortgage the repayment element was taken off, without any notification to us. However, as the account is online, and it is possible to transfer very easily I just do a weekly transfer to reduce the outstanding amount. This is useful as some months we are to pay off more than ...

Very slow service

Advantages: Good rate (at the time)
Disadvantages: Slow service, poor communication, poor customer service, staff dont talk to each other.

...applied for a mortgage via Nationwide and I believe I got a good rate. However it was 15 weeks from application to approval. Here are the issues: 1) I have found the service very slow and kept receiving calls from the branch asking me how the mortgage was progressing, even though progress was waiting on their own head office! Can Nationwide staff not call their own head office to find out? Apparently not. 2) My Nationwide branch advisor went on holiday ...
...additional hold up. 5) Nationwide staff seemed to request information at the last minute, make sure you ask them if there's anything additional you need to send them for your application. e.g. more payslips or insurance details from your estate agent. In total from application to approval took 15 weeks! I am now 3 weeks away from my existing rental contract expiry and am relying on the solicitors making their searches etc ASAP so I dont end up homeless ...
