**This review deals only with using Moss Bros for suit hire, not purchase**
My first encounter with Moss Bros was a fortnight before my wedding. I had assigned my husband-to-be just one task in the run up to our big day: hire suits for the 4 ushers and the best man. Inevitably, as we went through a final list of things needed for the wedding, he looked sheepish and confessed that he had got as far as a list of chest, neck, waist and leg sizes (which he subsequently proudly produced scrawled on the back of a beer mat) but hadn't got as far as a shop to hire the suits from. I decided perhaps this one task was one task too much, so took the beer mat and headed off to my nearest branch of Moss Bros. This review is therefore focused on Moss Bros for hiring suits.
First Impressions The Moss Bros shop I went into was clean, tidy and light. A friendly assistant approached me as soon as I started looking at the sample suits on display in a slightly quizzical manner.
Choosing suits to hire The friendly assistant, on hearing my plight, provided a slim catalog to look through to decide on the type of suit I wanted. The shop had some (but not all) of the available suits on display and the assistant offered to get in any others I'd like to see before I reached my final decision. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time for that, but fortunately the catalog had very clear photographs so I felt able to choose from them. The catalog was well-designed and I found it easy to work out how much different options would cost.
Formalities of the hiring process Once I'd chosen, I was asked if I wanted to pay for insurance in case the ushers damaged the suits (an extra £6 each) and then I had to leave credit card details as insurance against me running off with the suits. The actual cost of hiring a suit from them started at around £35 for trousers and jacket. I was told I could return the suits to a different store if I wanted, but this would cost me extra (I think it was £10 per suit, so not cheap.) I was impressed they were able to accommodate my order at such short notice.
The suits I personally didn't wear the suits but I didn't hear any complaints from the boys, and they all seemed to fit well (the beer mat measurements were, much to my surprise, obviously correct!) They felt of a reasonable quality and withstood the various energetic moves the boys put them through during the day. They were also all matching in terms of colour, which was something I had been concerned about as as hire suits they are obviously washed a lot. Oh, and they smelt clean (another of my unfounded worries.)
Conclusion Customer service was excellent and the suits were adequate for the purpose intended. Price was also reasonable. Overall, I was satisfied.
