ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA
Review of ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA - motherboard - ATX - PT880 Ultra by
xzibit89
Advantages: Cheap upgrade to new CPU; stable mild overclocking; passive heatsink
Disadvantages: Limited overclocking; poor DDR memory bandwidth; not supported by many monitoring programs such as CPUz
This board manages to allow all the modern processors, combined with either DDR or DDRII memory, and AGP or PCIE graphics. Obviously I bought this board so that I could upgrade my processor, yet keep my existing DDR memory and AGP graphics card. As far as performance is concerned, this board is very much average. The memory bandwidth for DDR1 is quite poor compared with my old Abit AI7 (Intel 865PE chipset), perhaps this is because it was designed ... ...an improvement over my old setup.
The overclocking on this board is quite disappointing. Yes, there is step less frequency options for the FSB, but the memory appears locked at either 266, 333 or 400Mhz, there are NO voltage options for the CPU, and voltage options for the memory are either 'high', 'normal', or 'low'. This said, the BIOS does offer a wide range of memory timings and other options I've never heard of (and the manual fails to mention).

Review of ASRock AM2NF3-VSTA - motherboard - ATX - nForce3 250 by
stephan_pieri
Advantages: Very good, Well built, Everything is there
Disadvantages: none
...without a fan. After emailing ASRock themselves, i got a reply the next day with detailed information about every fan available, and what they recommend to be the best, so support is great aswell.
I currently have Vista installed, and this copes well with it as it was produced for Vista.
To anybody who is looking to purchase a motherboard, i seriously recommend this one to be a great buy ...

Good buy
Review of ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA - motherboard - ATX - PT880 Ultra by
Clifford_Uk
Advantages: Lots of USB, 7.1 sound etc etc
Disadvantages: none
Hi, just to say.. this Motherboard is brilliant... works fine with my Pentium 4 524 (HT) and DDR2 RAM. I bought this motherboard to replace my old one that decided it was time to move on. I removed the old one, popped this one in, and away it went. Only one problem i have had with it, it seems to want to keep my chassis fans and CPU fat on full all the time, whereas my old one sped them up and slowed them down as nessacery, Don't know if you can ... ...gamer, the extra air flow will be an advantage! lol. It's got On-board 7.1 channel sound, 4 USB + 4 USB headers on motherboard, Built in Infra-red(never used, don't know how), Built in 1 gigabit ethernet. Overall, recommended for buyers.
Another problem(?) was that it only seems to want to run PCI-E graphics cars at 4x, where the motherboard is capable of 16x. Not sure if this can be fixed, but it's not a graphics card fault, as i have tryed in ...

Great Board
Review of MSI K9A2 Platinum - motherboard - ATX - AMD 790FX by
kcR34P3R102
Advantages: Effective
Disadvantages: PCI-E Slot Positions
This is am amazing motherboard. It supports the older AM2 series and AMDs new Tri/Quad cores, the Phenom series. The RAM dual-channels right next to each other and its got a nice 8 channel HD sound. I'm going to skip to the downsides, then finish the upsides. The top-most PCI-E slot won't let you seat a large card like my 4850, the heat pipes are in the way. The other thing is that it doesn't have dual LAN, would of been nice but you get what you ... ...exactly suited for large video cards, the middle two cut off some of the SATA ports.
Other then those negatives, the rest of the board is awesome. It overclocks very, very good and just as a side note some of the options require you to press + or minus instead of hitting enter. ...

Cheap, All Round Mother Board
Review of ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 - motherboard - micro ATX - i945GC by
JamesKra28
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Slim Upgrade Potential
I have been using this product for a while now and it is a great mid range motherboard. It supports Intel Dual core chips, has 2 RAM slots and PCI - Express slots. This means that although the product is very realiable and relativly cheap, I would not recommend this for the computer savy or gamers as upgrade potential is slim to none. Although you can have up to 2GB RAM, which I must say it handles with incredibly well. Never had it overheat, generally ... ...add - on tempeture gauage to check and mointer tempetures. As perviously said I would recommend this motherboard for the average user or possible to build into a spare machine as I have done. Not great for people who wish to upgrade their machine to the latest hardware. ...
