Good board
Review of SOYO Socket 7 SY-5EMA+ - motherboard - ATX by
Skilleter
Advantages: Good price, 5 PCI slots 1 AGP and 2 ISA
Disadvantages: Max speed of 550MHz is a bit slow these days
...a 450MHz K6/2. I'd had Soyo before and been happy with it.
The manual is good and the board was easy to install and set up, but I had two boards fail within weeks. Both lost the keyboard and mouse so they'd work, but stop with a BIOS error as they started up.
I replaced the keyboard and mouse when I got the 2nd replacement board (both replacements were done under warranty) and have had no problems since (12 months so far....). The problem might ... ...damaged.
My third board has been 100% reliable and works well with both Windows 95 and Windows 2000 (although I did have problems with a patch that Windows 95 needs for the AMD K6/2, but that was Microsoft/AMD's fault, not Soyo's).
I'd still buy Soyo again next time. ...

Its been around a while but still a bargain
Review of SOYO Socket 370 SY-7VCA - motherboard - ATX - Pro133A by
Mcsm
Advantages: Plenty of features - Good quality
Disadvantages: Drive installation a little confusing
...favoured by many motherboard manufacturers, Soyo has chosen one of VIA's chipsets for this ATX board, although for most users the difference won't be too relevant, since the functional differences are minimal.
What you get is a board with three DIMM sockets (all rated at PC-133), a brace of UDMA/66 (not 100, at the time of writing) controllers and the usual serial, parallel, USB and PS/2 ports at the rear. Also present on this board is an audio ... ...well, plus a game controller.
Soyo is keen on hardware monitoring and power management features, so the SY-7VCA has voltage and fan speed monitors, CPU temperature measurements, wake-on keyboard, modem, alarm, LAN and more.
Soyo has retained backward compatibility with this board, by ensuring that it has one ISA slot in amongst its five PCI slots There's also an AMR riser socket, which can be used to add a modem adapter at a later date if required. ...

ASUS FOR THE WIN
Review of ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe - motherboard - ATX - nForce4 SLI X16 by
SirWritealot
Advantages: cheap enough for the budget buyer with all the best features
Disadvantages: none that come to mind
i am a massive fan of all things ASUS
but i still look at there products in the same level of detail as any other brand
the first thing you notice when getting your motherboard is the quality of the packaging it is placed inside a strong anti-static packaging which is then inside a rather thick cardboard box with an outer (thinner) sleeve
it comes with all the relevant cables and bits you would need
including but not limited to :
sata data cables, ... ...once i had powered my PC up after installing this new board i was soon appreciating the advantages of full 16x sli i was using 2x 7900gt's on a motherboard which did not allow for full throttle sli
and the difference is noticeable
the overall quality of the motherboard is astounding
it comes with a very handy and helpful manual that is laid out cleverly and soon became my bible
this board has so many features
it does use DDR ram but to be honest ...

Amazing Motherboard
Review of ASUS P5N-E SLI - motherboard - ATX - nForce 650i SLI by
aasimenator
Advantages: Puchased for Intel Q6600, XFX 8800GTX 640MB & OCZ 4GB DDR2
Disadvantages: had to RMA because of 1 dead SATA Port, and 1 dead Memory Slot
You know that when building the perfect PC, the motherboard is as important as anything.
This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Quad-core processors in LGA775 package. It's excellent for multi-tasking, multi-media and enthusiastic gamers as i am. It's designed for great performance and overclocking(never tried it though)! With an NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI chipset and a front side bus capable of 1333/1066/533 MHz, your machine will be ready to ... ...support up to 8GB of DDR2 non-ECC unbuffered memory. DDR2 is the next generation memory technology to replace the current DDR. With the highest speed up to 800MHz, DDR2 memory provides great performance for 3D graphics and other memory demanding applications.
This great platform has 2 PCI Express x16 slots, 1 PCI Express x1, and 2 PCI 2.2 slots! There's Gigabit LAN, support for up to 8 USB 2.0 ports, and tons more features! If you are looking for ...

A Fantastic card...
Review of ABIT Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI - motherboard - ATX - nForce 650i SLI by
GazzieC
Advantages: Tonnes of features, Low price and more
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
I recently purchased this board as I wanted to build my first gaming rig without hitting the big numbers in price. All I can say about this is WOW... For £50-£60 which you can get this board for now you'd be really stupid to look elsewhere. As with other reviews one of the first things you notice about it is the Care and Attention to detail that is put into its construction and packaging. You feel you've brought something at a premium without the ... ...install and everything you need to use all the features of this board come in the box.
I havent had much chance to overclock with it yet but I hear its blinding. Im just waiting for my Q6600 SLACR edition cpu to turn up so I can have a dabble at overclocking. For a novice rig builder though I cannot rate this board enough. I looked at a lot of other more expensive boards out there, but I am so glad I went with this board instead.
Also the fact ...
