The best - bugs can be worked around
Review of ASUS Striker Extreme Republic of Gamers Series - motherboard - ATX - nForce 680i SLI by ClockworkUniverse42

Advantages: features and accessories rich; great overclocking potential; fastest mobo out there
Disadvantages: some bugs, but nothing that can't be dealt with if you're prepared

...However, after looking at the Asus forums, I was confidant that I could overcome any problems that I encountered. When I set up my new system, I was immediatly faced with the notorious 'CPU INIT' error when I attempted to power up the PC. However, as I had read the forums and knew about the problem, I could easily deal with it - as opposed to sending for a replacement straight away, which I've heard many people have done. I soon discovered the problem ...
...as I have said, the Asus forums, I had already prepared a USB stick with the latest stable bios version on it, so that the first thing I did after powering up the Striker was to go into the bios and update it, using Asus's brillliant EZFlash utility. After that was done I simply installed the OS and it was brilliant from then on. As I said, there is a reason I tolerated these teething troubles in such an expensive and high-end part. This is because ... Read review

A great mid-price board for budget SLi systems
Review of ASUS P5N-E SLI - motherboard - ATX - nForce 650i SLI by cport80

Advantages: Quick connectors, built in bios recovery, overclocking features
Disadvantages: No port 80 (LED diagnostics) display, angled IDE sockets

Superb mid-price motherboard and I'm very glad I opted to buy this. I became a bit of an E-pox fan a while back and went to a Sapphire pure advantage when they came out. The current state of play though suggests us first-person-shooter fanatics should opt for intel/nvidia systems so this was my choice. The board itself has some innovative features I've not come across on other boards before. Quick connector blocks for the front panel & front USB ...
...built in bios recovery program which will attempt to restore the boards bios from the supplied driver CD. Nice touch although the instructions still warn you about turning off during bios updates so maybe this is not unbreakable. The bios also features hardware monitoring for cpu & board temps, PSU voltages and fan speeds and loads of options for overclocking. The onboard lan is 1000 Mbps as you would expect. The two IDE sockets face forward at ... Read review

Asus P5K Premium review
Review of ASUS P5K Premium/WiFi-AP Black Pearl Special Edition - motherboard - ATX - iP35 by fatnickccash

Advantages: Highly overclockable, nice layout, fairly priced
Disadvantages: Cheaper motherboards are available...

...and the on-board Wi-Fi that Asus has included somewhat justify this price. If you plan to overclock a Core 2 Duo/Quad a lot, this board is perfect, but if you're content with stock speed or small overclocks, you can find motherboards that are more economical for you. The P5K series has many cheaper variants, lacking some of the high-end features of the Premium, such as the P5K-E, which is cheaper and will suit less demanding consumers, or those who ...
...by the P5K Premium, and so the cheaper variants do have their drawbacks. Furthermore, for those for whom money is no object, there are slightly better overclocking boards out there, but often for double the price of the P5K Premium. This edition of the motherboard is also very good looking if you have a case window and adequate lighting. The coloured ports and heatsinks stand out on the black background to look very stylish, as motherboards go. ... Read review

Advantages: COOL design thermaly and visually
Disadvantages: THERE ARE NONE

one solid motherboard up to 360 mhz buss speed! Durable, stable, full of features, iv got the am2 longer board version, but this one is basically the same. Has cooling features for the chip sets which is handy for overcloking and it increases life span too. has special power surge protection features on it. Stable bios realeases for newer cpus and has endless overcloking options in the bios. has special options to auto overclock when in demand when ...
...by upto 10% without you having to touch any other settings, it will set the correct voltages etc. you can also set the memory to lower speeds and then overclock the cpu as the RAM increases with cpu overclocks, this is useful for when your RAM holds you back on overclokcing or when your worried about pushing your RAM too much. i set my 800 mhz chips to 667 and pushed the cpu up by 200 mhz, and the speed is up near 825 mhz now on the RAM which is ...
