It rocks....
Advantages: Very fast, can take up to xp2600 with 333mhz fsb. can use DDR or SDR Disadvantages: if using usb ports at back, 1st pci slot cant be used
One person ask's, 'what is it?' A motherboard for a computer which is why its in the motherboard section under Hardware, under computers. Yet they rate it anyway. 'What does it do' they also ask.... Well, if your looking at a motherboard for a computer, then, well, computers hardware is generaly complicated so really, only people who know what a motherboard is would really be looking at it. For those who dont then, here goes....
A motherboard has ... ...the mouse, keyboard, internal cards (sound cards, Graphics cards), Drives (Floppy disk, hard disk, cd rom/rw, dvd/rw) memory, (RAM) and the processor. A processor contains a set on instructions, and it processes all of the information which goes to it and then send it to the appropriate part for the desired effect. The faster the cpu is, the faster it will process information. However, if the processor is fast, and something like the graphics card ...

Get something else
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: No Support
On ordering the K7SOM, I was quite excited. It had all the features you would expect from a more expensive motherboard (supports SDRAM & DDR, 266/200 Mhz FSB, onboard Graphics, sound, LAN and USB, plus all other usual connections).
Once the board was at home, I set about installing it in my box. Here everything was going well, the manual was easy to read, the board was easy to work with, and pretty quickly the board was ready to power up.
And this ... ...did, the board wouldn't run at 266Mhz Front side bus. Not a big problem for older slower chips, but my Athlon 2100+ was being recognized as an Athlon 1500+!!
Being slightly experienced, I decided to try and triubleshoot the problem myself before contacting the ECS tech support. All my efforts were fruitless and all manner of flashing, resetting and downgrading of the BIOS made no difference at all. After contacting tech support by email, they finally ...

Good value but poor features
Advantages: Lowest price, stable Disadvantages: Only basic features, nothing interessting about it, modest overclocking, modest BIOS
...and I've noticed this cheap EliteGroup motherboard based on the great Intel 965 chipset. So I've took this motherboard from a friend's hardware store and I've started to test it.
The speed of the motherboard is good, you wont actually see a difference compared to a much expensive motherboard at the same processor speed, the EliteGroup P965T-A performs quite well, and the maximum speed difference from this motherboard and a much expensive one based ... ...Bluetooth connections, overclocking features,design... ) Elitegroup just focuses to deliver a decent motherboard at the lowest possible price .That may work for some but not for everybody and definitively not for me. The stability is good, but in long term I think there are better alternatives on the market, ones with solid capacitors.
Why should you buy this motherboard:
*one of the cheapest motherboards based on the great 965 chipset *stable

Very good buy
Advantages: PCI Express slot, holds P4 3.0ghz Disadvantages: only holds 2GB RAM max. and only 2 PCI slots
The only reason I purchased this motherboard was due to it's capability of holding a PCI-Express graphics card (which have a lot faster data transfer rate than AGP, so I seriously recommend it).
This was the cheapest motherboard that I could find which met my requirements, however it has been great to use so far with no problems whatsoever. It has all of your bog standard slots (2xPCI, AGP, PCI Express, DDR and DDR2 slots and the ability to hold ... ...motherboard with a 3.0GHz P4 CPU and 2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM and it delivers power perfectly. The only problem I have with it is the fact it only holds 2GB RAM (either DDR or DDR2 - non interchangeable) which prevents it from being expanded further in the future, but I am lucky that 2GB is sufficient enough at the minute. Another thing is the lack of PCI slots. I currently use both of my PCI slots, but I cannot add any more additions due to the lack ...
