Advantages Good size ranges, very leakproof, roomy fit, great for well boosted night nappies

Disadvantages Bulky, no good for prefolds or pad folded nappies, latex in binding can irritate

Motherease Air Rika wraps (now called Air-Flow) are made by Motherease in Canada. They are part of the best selling nappy system in Canada, so they must be doing something right!!
They are the waterproof outer that goes over the absorbent inner of a reusable nappy system. They come in a variety of sizes, from the tiny XS (for premmie and weeny babies) to the XL which fits my 3 and a half year old on the widest setting.
They come in 2 patterns, a pinky beige pawprint and a lovely blue and greeny whales print, and also a variety of pastel shades, and the ever popular creamy white. The new price is approx £7-8 depending on size. They can be bought from most of the large online nappy retailers, for example the nappy lady or Twinkle Twinkle (www.thenappylady.co.uk and www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk)
Popolini, the equivalent European manufacturer, make their own version of the AirFlow under licence, the sizing, in my opinion, comes up a bit bigger on these, and for some reason these are less desirable and hence have a lower resale value, although they are, in essence, the same product!!
Anyway, on to performance. These covers fasten with several poppers, which gives them a kind of 'vented' look, which was initially dubious about. There are several rows of poppers to adjust the fit and I found the fit to be very good for both my children (both chunky thighed chubbas)
As they are a baggy fit, they arent suitable for prefolds or pad folded terries as those particular systems require a close fitting wrap to hold the nappy in place. The sir flow works best with the fitted style of nappy, although a pinned terry would work equally well. As they are so roomy, there is plenty of room for extra boosting, essential for those night nappies!
It is important to ensure that all the nappy is tucked inside the cover, as that can cause leaks, as my husband discovered once!!
Anyway, the side vents didnt leak at all and I was very impressed with the Air Flow. They seemed to be very comfortable ffor my sons, and always contained everything they produced.
The only people i would not recommend these for are babies with a latex allergy. As the binding on the leg cuffs is an open weave, the latex is in contact with the skin and therefore I have come across several cases of babies with red marks on their legs from these, initially thought to be due to a too tight fit, but which actually transpired to be a latex allergy. In these cases a fleece cuffed ciover, such as a fleecycheeks, or a nappy system where the binding is completely covered, such as the fuzzibunz system would be better.
Finally, once finished with, if in good condition, the resale value of these covers is very high, and can sell on for up to 75% of the initial purchase cost.
