Review of Michelin Macadam 100X Rear Tires by
exup35
Advantages: relative cost, grip in wet, suits wide range of power output
Disadvantages: can get 4 cars tyres for the price of one of these -
...I first started using Michelin Macadams on my FZR 400 exup, which for the size of machine used quite a fat rear tyre (160/60/17)
I was recommended the Macadam, as the tyre which was already on the bike had got a puncture while I was riding, overheated and wore the tread away. I needed a new tyre quickly as the FZR was my main transport to work.
I have since fitted Macadams to my Suzuki RF600R, and also my Daytona 955i (by this time the Macadam ... ...the Triumph Daytona, the front michelin is on and performing well, the rear however is still sat in the garage waiting for current rear to wear out. I did wonder wether the two tyres would be compatible as alot of manufacturers dont recommend mixing different tyres. After the new front was fitted though, the bike was checked out and handles OK. so I am not going to change a perfectly serviceable tyre away as the rear tyres wear at least twice as ...

Great confidence inspiring rubber you can trust
Review of Michelin Pilot Road Rear Tires by
elmopants
Advantages: Look ok, not to expensive, good feel and turning.
Disadvantages: Might not be great for really fast riders.
...I know how much stick Michelin have had over their performance the MotoGP! I am glad to report that I have not had such poor results from my Michelin Pilot Road tyres fitted to my trusty Yamaha FZS600 Fazer. I had these rubber boots fitted in replacement for the recommended Bridgestones that the bike was fitted with from new. I didn't really like the feel of the earlier tyres with the turn in quite sharp and at lean I didn't feel quite at ease on ... ...the Michelin's should suit the way I ride with a nice gently turn into the corners and good even grip across the profile no matter what sort of angle. I have to say I haven't been dissapointed with them so far.
So far I have covered about 2,000 miles on a set of these rubbers and they show only the slightest signs of wear on the rear as I did a couple of runs on main roads causing a little squaring of the tyre but no great issue. The front still ...

Standard rubber
Review of Dunlop D208 ZR Rear Tires by
peteshone
Advantages: Range of compounds available, good grip in a straight line, cheap
Disadvantages: Poor durability and poor cornering grip
...The Honda came with the Dunlop as standard fitment from new in a 180 section, the Triumph had a 190 section put on briefly as an aftermarket supplied item. The Honda got through three and a half pairs, the Triumph just the one. Before anyone asks why I kept the standard ones there were two reasons, firstly the tyre shop recommended them for the VTR, secondly they never wore out as a pair, the front lasting about 1/3 longer than the rear. I only change ... ...------------------------
Cost
------------------------
The Dunlop has a bit of a split personality where cost is concenred. If you are buying one from a franchised dealer as a match for your original equipment tyres then they cost the earth. On the other hand if you buy from a discounter like mandp.com they can often be had for very reasonable prices. Looking up the current costs on mandp shows... 160/60ZR17 is £85
180/55ZR17 is £88
190/50ZR17 ...

They are black, round, and go on the ground!
Review of Michelin Pilot Sport Front Tires by
titusbumus
Advantages: grip, wear pattern, confidence
Disadvantages: Wear rate, but I'll update on this when they have seen more action
Michelin Pilot Road 2.
These tyres are advertised as being the best of both worlds because they are a duel compound construction. The centre band of the tyre is a harder compound and is designed to give a much longer life than normal tyres, whilst the shoulders of the tyres are a softer compound to give better grip on corners and when the road is slippery.
I had the tyres fitted to my bike on 22/02/07 [just over 3 months ago] and to date I have ... ...wet. With the Michelin Pilot Road 2 I have noticed none of this and the squaring appears to be much less than I would expect.
From new the Michelin Pilot Road 2 come with 6 mm(f) & 8mm(r) of tread and they still have 4.5mm(f) and 6mm(r) left which by my reckoning will give me an expected life of around 6710 miles. This is a little lower than I would normally expect but time will tell.
On the road.
I’ve driven bikes for over 28 years now and I ...

The Do It All Tyre
Review of IRC Offroad Motorcycle Tyres TR8 by
Muddy250
Advantages: Wear rates, price, grip
Disadvantages: None
...What you need is the IRC TR8 4.00” X 18”. This tyre provides for both types of use and is now a standard original fitment to Honda XR250 and 400’s.
I have been using the rear TR8 for 10 months on the recommendation of friends much more experienced at trail and enduro riding than myself and have found it to be an fantastic all round tyre, providing excellent grip in all types of offroad surface, as well as on the tarmac, wet or dry, and despite its ... ...the UK. After 10 months and 4500 road miles on my Honda XR250 enduro bike, it has only just begun to square off (lose it’s profile for the uninitiated) and should last another 2000 or so before it needs replacing.
The tyre size is given as 4.00” but it measures nearer 5.00” fitted to the XR rim so might be a little tight on swing arm clearance for some bikes. Should fit most bikes
All in all a great tyre, good grip, excellent wear rates and a good ...
