This phone is faulty, bugged to the hilt, difficult to use, awkward, clumsy and just downright irritatiting. Couple that with the damn awful service and coverage you get on the "3" network and the high that all the promotional material and features takes you on sends you into a heady dive for the ground. Which is where I'd like to send this phone... Let me break it down for you in a way which highlights just why this phone is the worst move you ever make (possibly second to actually picking "3" as your mobile provider).
The phone crashes at least once a day – sometimes when doing nothing. 8 A call over 5-10 minutes would be cut off – guaranteed.
Trying to hold a call on the move was impossible – calls were dropped constantly
The phone takes 1-2 minutes to ‘boot’ up (which with repeated crashes gets tedious)
The phone’s touch-sensitive screen accuracy constantly drifts
90% of the time voice dialing did not operate at all making the phone a dreadful use risk in the car.
When voice dial did operate it had very low accuracy
Sometimes I would get terrible feedback through my handsfree kit
On one occasion I got a “fax-like” noise half way through a call to a work colleague – deafening me and effectively cutting us off. The phone then crashed.
The supplied “car kit” was flimsy crap that could not hold the phone safely or stay in position without damaging my car
The phone regularly could not find a signal on any network – strange considering I was often staring down a multi-network transmitter station near my house or passing through metropolitan Leeds.
AGPS (Satellite nav) never worked – tested it 3 or 4 times with the “Find a map” feature
MMS messages never worked when tried to the one and only other person I know on 3
MMS messaging crashed my phone
Transferring data to/from my SD card regularly crashed my phone
Transferring data from my SD card to my PC was interminably slow
I know I never received 1 in 3 text messages
I know 1 in 3 text messages I sent were not received
Calls went straight to voicemail despite the phone showing a full signal
Using the calendar feature of the phone crashed it
Battery life was well under specification
The phone would occasionally ring out loud despite being set to “vibrate”
The network / phone would not always tell me when I had a new voicemail waiting
Attempts to use my 3 phone to pick up SMTP mail from my own providers did not work
The Desktop Suite of software could not integrate with Outlook correctly and regularly crashed
The Desktop Suite interfered with basic operations on my laptop making it impossible to dock / undock.
You could not (despite the manual saying you could) change the items on the Home screen
As well as this, there was a number of more subjective issues I had with 3 and the A920...
You are stuck in a walled garden full of utter crud pay content 8 No access to the internet – yet I had this on O2
You cannot use the phone as a 3G modem
You cannot use the phone as a GPRS modem – I could with my 6310 on O2
You cannot picture message to most any other network
You cannot receive picture messages from most any other network
The handsfree kit bundles with the phone was flimsy and vastly oversized
No decent car kit is available
The phone arrived without bluetooth enabled – why?
The phone is still not IR enabled – why?
The phone has no file manager – despite having a SD “drive” slot
Light compensation on the camera is dreadful – making it difficult to use indoors
I know 1 person on 3 – hardly much us as a videophone
So, in summary, don't do it. The deals are a good price cause nothing else is. Don't don't don't. Let's be honest. Voda, O2 and all of them, they're not very good at customer service. Their prices are criminal and they take the mick but then try this phone on 3 and you will love your old network and your old phone. So much that you wonder what you ever felt was wrong with your old network.
Advantages: Good camera, video clips, MP3, expandable Disadvantages: Size and weight, surfing locked to 3
I already own an NEC e606 on 3, which I bought in April of this year, and was keen to see what the next generation of 3G mobiles would offer.
The first thing you notice is the size of the box and quantity of components you get with the phone. Like the e606 before it, the A920 comes with 2 batteries, 2 power cables, handsfree kit, substantial manual and 3 services guide, CD ROM and USB cable. In addition this new model also includes a black phone ... ...charge the spare battery alongside the phone itself. To my eye, 3G handsets are made to a higher standard than the majority of 2G models. Very robust and solid. However, they are also consistently larger and heavier. The size and weight of the A920 precludes dangling it from a belt loop, and you certainly know it's in your pocket! Someone told me this was because they also have to function on the 2G network. Switching the phone on you are greeted ...

Advantages: Great Football Highlights; PDA functions; Decent Signal Disadvantages: Touch Screen; Poor Battery Life; Re-Dialling
...Store and was shown the Motorola A920, playing a loop of several football clips. The clips looked extremely impressive, so after enquiring more into the price of the phone and the tariff, I bought one. When I got it home however, things weren't quite as I had hoped...
The first thing I noticed was the fact that you are supplied with 2 batteries for the phone. A very useful idea as you can carry a spare with you in case of emergency. However the ... ...The battery life is shockingly short. I don't use my phone that often, but still I only manage to scrape 6-8 hours out of it, even on little or no usage. I find myself having to constantly swap batteries over, which is keeping my charger permanantly on. Not very good.
The next thing that has made a slight concern to me is the size of the phone. It does tend to poke quite far out of my pocket, and has been prone to falling out on several occasions. ...

Well then, I've had this phone for a while now. Got it free on three 750. I'll presume you are reading this review to find out more about the phone on three network. I could go on and on but I am going to try and cut to the chase. The phone will roam to 02 when losing coverage, this causes the dropouts. On three the service is ok. On earlier models you get no bluetooth infra-red but can lock the phone to 02 network, making much better imo. Or later ... ...not allowed. So it always jumps back to the three network. If, your a business person who moves around then don't go three. If you can over the initial embarassment of carrying a brick then attaching it to your head its not bad. I think, you really need to be a geek at heart to appreciate it. TBH, after you've faffed about with the different games, software you can get for the phone it is a big brick and annoying wo carry. Dont get me wrong, I do ...

Advantages: Functionality, call quality, better camera than most Disadvantages: SIze, Battery
This phone has liberated my work. I find this integrated device fantastic. The phone call quality is very high and I have currently not had any problems with network issues that affect some users of the 3 network. The functionality of the handset is first rate with fully sync-able calendar and contacts with Microsoft Outlook, email that is quick.
I find the spoon fed content of internet useless and it is a shame because this phone could do so much ... ...money from you as possible.
The network tariff I am on is the 750 minutes for £35 and this is already giving me lower bills than when I was on a similar tariff with Orange (Business 200 £35). Text messages bump up the bill, but there are so many free minutes that it is cheaper to ring people direct and chat.
Although daunting to look at, this phone is very easy to use and I was making calls and snapping video and pictures within the afternoon. ...

Advantages: Very easy to use fairly small and alot of fun Disadvantages: You can get nicer looking phones.
This phone is really great to navaigate, everything is easy to find and well thought out. I find I have got so used to this phone I wouldnt change it for anything else around at the moment and I am in the perfect enviroment to be tempted, I sell mobiles!
The phone may look like a big hinge (in my opinion) but I find it really hard to fault.
The one thing I would say is buy a cover if you are going to get one of these phones becuase they do scratch quite easily on the outer surface hence why mine is looking a little sorry for itself. But my point is I dont care that its a bit battered or that it doesnt do video or mp3s because I just really like the funtionality of the phone.
It has a really nice sized screen without being too huge to fit in your smallest handbag neatly (my partner has just bought a motorolaA920! great screen ...

Advantages: Stylish, feature packed, easy to use. Disadvantages: Battery life if heavily used, network coverage.
I've been a 3 user for more than a year now and had previously used the MotorolaA920. I was due an upgrade since it was getting more than a bit battered and a friend of mine has the 8120. I was impressed enough to order one which turned up next day.
I won't bore you with the specs which can be found elseware but I will say it is very neat and stylish, well featured and easy to use. The screen is excellent and shows off the results from the camera really well. The build in flash is novel but useful and does make a big difference.
The menu system is a bit 'cutesy' for my tastes but does allow to use all the features such as still/video camera, mp3 player, applications, etc quickly and easily. It seems to do pretty much everything my old A920 did and a fair bit quicker too. The only real difference is a smaller screen and it's not ...
