Every year I write a review on my new phone. It is funny, this time because I loved my Motorola C332 so much I had planned on keeping it a little longer. Well my one year contract had run out, and I think T-Mobile and Motorola thought I might take my business elsewhere.
I received a letter from them offering me a new phone, the Motorola C350, for free. I would continue for a further year with my contract with T-Mobile. $19.95 (£11.40) a month for 60 weekday minutes and 500 weekend minutes. Nationwide and roaming included. They gave me a 1-800 (free) number to call. Within a couple of minutes I was told that my phone would be with me within 5-7 days. There would be a pre-paid envelope to return my old phone. I could keep all the accessories. If I did not return this phone I would be charged $100 (£57).
My new phone arrived 5 days later. It came with a charger and ear piece. Also instructions to transfer my SIM card from the old phone to the new one. This card contains my number, phonebook addresses, recent calls, etc.
So what is different with this phone?
My last phone was contoured to my hand. This one is not. It is the same size as my last one. It is silver gray. I really don't think it is as pretty, but only a women would say that. To me it is functional. It does fit into my leather case, so I didn't have to buy another one.
With any new phone it has to be fully charged up. Older phones have taken hours to do this, but the Motorola C350 battery was fully charged in no time at all.
To switch on press the red telephone key on the left side. Hold it for a couple of seconds. Then the M comes on.
The screen has the signal strength in the left top corner. Right hand the battery level. If I had any messages they would show between these. There are 2 different ones, for text and voice. In the middle of the screen is the time of day, T-Mobile, and at the bottom, 2 quick (called soft keys) menu items. I chose recent and phonebook, but any of the menu's can be switched into these places. On my old Motorola I also had the date. I read the 84 pages of instructions and still couldn't get the date on my phone. I headed up to the Mall, where we have a T-Mobile store. The people working there hadn't seen this new phone. The guy who was helping me took about 10 minutes to finally get the date in for me. My time and T-Mobile were large. He zoomed out of them, and was able to put in a third row, hence the date. This is really important for me, because I don't carry a diary or calendar with me.
From this screen you can receive a call by pressing the green telephone button, on the right side of the phone. When finished press the red telephone on the left. You can press the number buttons to make a call and then the green phone key, or better still, put them in the phonebook. The person you are calling is high lighted in the color of your choice, so you are less likely to make a mistake.
Between the 2 quick menu keys as I call them, is the main menu. Press the center to bring up the first one. Mine is messages, which is self explanatory, then scroll up or down to read the rest. They are:
Recent Calls: Goes into received, dialed, notepad, call times. I use this each month to delete the amount of minutes. Starting fresh on the cycle date of my month.
Ring Styles: Mine is vibrate and ring. I had a normal ringing tone, but the guy at the store put music in for me. Now after I finish a call, or go out of a function, I get dancing animation too. Cool.
Media Center: Is themes, my tones, picture viewer, motomixer. Allows you to play with downloads to create you own pictures, sounds etc.
Datebook. Give you a calendar where you can enter an event.
T-zones. I have not been into.
Web Access. Haven't used this function either.
Phonebook The phone book was a lot of fun. With my old phones I had to key in the whole thing. Pressing a key several times if it was the last letter on that button. This phone likes to do the work for you. It guesses the name, and puts several on the bottom of the screen for you. I found this to be of help with easy names, but when it cames to doctors etc., then I had to key it in myself. You can enter 100 numbers and names.
Alarm Clock.
Calculator
Games: Astromash, MotoGP. Snood21. Haven't had time to try any of these out.
Voice Dial. You have to add these via the phonebook.
Fixed Dial
My Menu: MegaTones, Wallpapers, Screensavers,
Settings: A very important function. Call forward, phone status, In-call setup, security, other settings. Other setting also goes into personalize, initial setup, network, car settings, headset. In personalize you can change the 2 keys (pads) to your favorites. Change the color too. Initial setup, changes time and date, touch dial, back light length of time, zooming, scroll, animation, language, contrast.
AIM. You need to go on-line to use this. I just wanted a phone.
The one thing I really like about this phone is that I have a colored screen. Multi-colored. At the left side of each of these functions is a picture of the function.
The one thing I really hate, and I do mean hate about the C350 is that when the back light goes out, the screen can hardly be seen. In the house with the lights on I can just about make it out, but living in the Sunshine State, forget seeing anything when I am outside or in the car. The answer is "No I don't drive and look at the phone", I only pick it up when Len is driving. I asked the gentleman in the store why this was, and he told me it was to save the life of the battery. Progress? I don't think so.
Standby Time is up to 215 hours. Battery Talk Time is up to 290 minutes.
During the week I do not have to charge the battery. I switch off at night. During the weekend I use my phone for say 100 minutes, so Sunday night it gets a charge.
Another good point with this phone is that I can lock it. It can be done 2 ways. Either by pressing the menu key and then straight after the * key, or you can put in your own code, so that no one else can use it.
For any youngsters out there. The phone lets you change covers and keypads. There is a section on this in the manual.
Dimensions of the phone: 98 x 43 x 17 m.m. Weight 84.5 g. Volume 72 cc.
If you purchase this phone and any pay plan, charges apply for text messaging, alerts, and each MegaTone, and Wallpaper purchase. (Taken from the box)
If you are interested in this phone, you can see if they now have it at your local phone store, or contact: Personal Communications Sector 600 North U.S. Highway 45 Libertyville, Illinois 60048. 1-800-331-6456 However, as I live in America and this information won't be of any help to you, you may wish to go to the web-site:- www.motorola.com.
The clarity is wonderful, and I can use it anywhere, without losing the signal. This is a must.
I am not going to bore you with detailing all of the information, as the 114 page manual does a pretty good job. If there is anything you really want to know, or if you think I missed it out, please leave a comment, or e-mail me.
While waiting to get this review submitted, I was out eating with friends. My phone case was attached to my purse. I hit the side of my chair with it. The phone fell out, and landed on the floor. The back came off and the battery came out. This is a sleek, shiny, phone. Not always a good point though. Glad to say it still works.
After almost 3 months of using it, I am very impressed with it. The only real problem I seem to have it hitting the wrong buttons. They are so small. I have in fact gone to switch it off, and pressed another key my mistake. Called my voicemail.
If you can put up with these minor faults, then I would suggest you purchase, (or get it for free), this neat little phone.
Advantages: You can re-order the features list Disadvantages: No delivery reports, no cAsE-button, small screen, etc.
...so when I found the Motorola C350 on sale, I thought I'd go for it. New mobile, yay! ...That feeling soon wore off.
Initial thoughts were that I finally got a phone with polyphone ringtones and colour display. The second feeling, after having played with it to see all the features and how they worked (and consulted the manual because there HAS to be a certain feature on it, but you just can't find it - only to have the manual tell you it doesn't ... ...the things I expected the Motorola to have - which it didn't, and which is why I don't like it. I mean, it's not as if I was expecting a phone with WAP/GPRS and got one without (the C350 does have WAP/GPRS if I'm not mistaken, but I've never used that feature), I was just expecting some very basic, simple functions, which it didn't have! Not even a proper money exchange rate feature in the calculator! Goodness sake, my phone from 2000 had that, and ...

...owned anything other than a motorola (assuming all motorola's are the sameish) will be satisfied by it.
The main two problems I have with it are:
battery life
SMS
The manufacturers claim a standby life of 300 hours. Absolute rubbish. I get 2 days out of mine if I'm lucky, and it really really bugs me. I cannot get used to having to plug my phone in every single night. If you make a call it's even worse, the battery monitor display will go from ... ...Which is another irritating thing, the battery icon only has 3 bars, unlike the more useful 5 on a nokia.
When sending texts, I at first had great difficulty in figuring it out. The predictive text is wierd and the buttons are a horrible shape and size for texting. Over time as I got used to the phone, a few of the texting problems worked themselves out, but in general, I hate texting now and don't do it unless I have to.
However, gripes aside, ...

Advantages: Looks good, reliable Disadvantages: Small screen, too quiet, fiddly buttons
I received the Motorola C350 as a Christmas present. Therefore, I did not choose this myself. I’ve only had it a few days, but I’ve been fiddling around with it for quite a few hours (does that sound dodgy?) and have a fairly good idea of how good it is. And after a while, I began to realise that the C350 is not very good. There are reasons, and I may decide to return the phone in the near future.

This is where the problems begin. It’s a ... ...The main problem with the Motorola C350 is that it came out before the ‘next gen’ phones, thinking it was clever, but a few months down the line it was outstripped by phones that cost the same or a little more than it. The graphics, sound, screen and buttons fall below expectations and are the main reasons that I don’t recommend the C350: there’s better out there. ...

Advantages: Small, Light, Inexpensive Disadvantages: Slightly Buggy Interface, small buttons
I bought my motorola 2 or 3 months ago. The main reason being that the phone is free on contract. Before this phone I had the Samsung A300 for a year and found it to be one of the worst phones I have owned with awful battery life and a very uncomfortable design.
The c350 is a very compact phone measuring 44 x 98 x 19 mm. It is also very light making it comfortable to carry around in your pocket (unlike the new video phones which are the size and ... ...limited but advanced array of features including polyphonic ring tones, java games, gprs, and a colour screen. The phone is easy to use and menu navigation is controlled by up and down keys.
Sending a text using the c350 is relatively easy. You just select new message from the messages menu and then enter the text. You can either use the entry method that involves clicking a key until you reach the desired letter or you can use the predictive text. ...

Advantages: Very cheap and nice silver metallic look design. Also quite light. Disadvantages: Loading time. Can't download games.
...my Nokia 3330 to this Motorola c350 as I wanted a nice colour phone that wasn't too expensive and heavy. I purchased it for £59.99 from Index Catalogue sometime near christmas which I thought was a good price. The main thing was that it looked really good for it's £60 price tag.
It comes with a great array of features such as colour screen, games (Moto GP, Astromash and Snood 21), GPRS and polyphonic ringtones. I thought it had Bluetooth as well ... ...very long lasting.
The Motorola c350 also has predictive text input as well but that is the one thing I don't like about this phone. But don't let me put you off, its just me I've never like predictive texting because for some reason it just takes me ages to write a message. But if your good with predictive text then this will be a great benefit.

Advantages: Value for money, colour screen, good battery life Disadvantages: Slightly larger than many new phones
This was my third attempt at buying a satisfactory phone (the previous two having been on Virgin Mobile, whose network proved highly unsatisfactory using two of this handset's rivals, the Panasonic GD67 and MotorolaC350). I have overall been very pleased with my final purchase on Orange.
The phone is fairly light weight (around 100g), has a very clear 4096 colour screen with intuitively usable menus, and well spaced large buttons which make for quick texting and menu navigation without key-strike errors. It is a little larger and heavier than many similarly specified handsets but not awkwardly so. The phone has good polyphonic and standard ringtones, WAP, and GPRS (although I haven't tried this). The battery life is good (I can't verify the 13 days standby quoted in the manual but certainly I'd expect to get a week of light use ...

After having a MotorolaC350 for some time I decided that it was time for a change. I looked up the Siemens S55 along with its rivals, the Nokia 6610(i) and the Ericsson T68. And upon deciding on this one I searched on the internet. To my surprise there was a hefty £150 price tag on this phone. Upon realising the fact that my wallet was going to be empty if I bought it, I looked on eBay and found several S55s for around £50.
This phone was brand new and it came with a, camera, handsfree, neck strap, PC cable and 2 instruction manuals, 1 for the phone and 1 for the camera.
This phone is around the same size as its rivals and fits nicely into the palm of your hand. It is also quite light being just 85g in weight. The design of the phone is a kind of elongated oval and the phone is very tactile. The shiny metal rims around the screen ...

To never leave the old road for the new said someone, and must say that as far as the cellular one that I had intention to acquire it has guessed us in full load.
From much cellular time I use Siemens; from the C45 to the M50 that tutt' hour I possess but that I have decided to use like supply.
Of the previous products I have been able to appreciate the robustness and the absence of breakdowns; for against the menù little intuiti and the exasperating slowness to you of the software they had pushed to change producer to me for my new purchase.
