Advantages Advantages size, somplicity to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages cost, size, lack of features

Am I the only person in the world who does not care if their mobile has polyphonic ring tones, a camera, MP3 player and cute little screensavers? Well I must admit that I am a little jealous but I also think they would be a bit of a novelty that I would not use once I had got used to the phone. Thus when my first phone a natty little Saagem started playing up about a year and a half ago I looked for the cheapest option to replace it. What I bought from my local independent mobile phone retailer was a Motorola 3588. It was like something out of the Dark Ages, but do you know what I do not mind ... more

Advantages Advantages The size and versatile pay options

Disadvantages Disadvantages not being able to change colour of phone but not a disadvantage to me

I really hated the idea of owning a mobile phone but found as ever that its becoming a necessity especially when I need to ring people in emergencies. This is basically why I opted for this phone over the other trendier brands. Yes Nokia has hundreds of different ringing tones and colours but to be honest thats not why I wanted the phone. Its small, classic, classy and not overbearing in silver which makes it pratical and the battery allows up to 4 hours usage. There is a small choice of ringing tones and message and voice message services. The 90 name and number memory allows for all those ... more

    Advantages Advantages Free best friend

Disadvantages Disadvantages Brick, limited functions, doesnt even show me the time!

The mobile I think costed in the £70-£80 region, and certainly wasn't my choice! For one, I wouldn't pay that ammount of money for a phone of this type!! This was a mobile that my mum and dad gave to me and my sister because they bought newer mobiles from One 2 One. Not only was it the same size as a play walkie talkie, but it only did basic functions! There was no clock, no games, no fun! The tones were limited to about 11, and you'd be lucky to get a nice looking case for it! The thing operated on BT Cellnet (now O2) and was charging 30p a minute for anytime, and 12p per text. This was with ... more

Advantages Advantages Good all round budget phone.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dated by today's standards.

I bought an M3588 on the btcellnet network about a year ago now, and at the time was very impressed. It looked wonderfully stylish and was really good at the time. However, it just looks dated and a bit like a brick now. The phone has a lot of good features, a large, bright, easy to read LCD display and phone book of 99 entries which are easy to access from the excellent quick menu function. The SMS messaging is great and the ring is really loud - the call quality is good,if not excellent (although that may be down to btcellnet). The one thing I really don't like is the keypad which feels ... more

    Advantages Advantages Really good value

Disadvantages Disadvantages I am now an official mobile phone user! Aargh.

I always vowed to never buy a mobile phone, however I popped in to a branch of the Carphone Warehouse the other day to ask how much an ‘emergency use only’ phone would cost and was amazed to find one for £39.99. This was on BTCellnet's Pay and Go system They offered really good impartial advice and assessed my needs in a logical and friendly fashion. The phone includes an everlasting voucher of £10 worth of calls and that’s all the small print there is! No bills, no contract, no monthly fee or rental. So if we get bored of the phone, it gets stolen, we become really skint, we just forget about ... more
