Motorola RAZR V3 has been a permanent fixture as long as I have work at Vodafone, I started two and half years ago and it's still available in some mobile phone stores on Pay as You Go. Yes, I happen to own one of these though I've never liked Motorola as a brand. I always found their phones annoying and slightly complicated compared to other phones and the reason why I have one these is beyond me. I'm selling mine soon hence the title.

…Overview of the RAZR V3…

This phone was available in many different colours. Black, Pink, Bright Pink, Grey, Blue and Red. Now it's only available in Black and Pink.

Design: It's a very slim clamshell/flip phone that is smaller than most wallets and would fit easily into your pockets. It's dimension are 98 x 53 x 13.9 mm and weighs only 95g. It has a small front LED display that can show the time, pictures and even who's calling. Inside screen is big and clear. It has flat keys that are 4 long bars each bar containing 3 numbers or *, 0 and # instead of having a key for each number.

Features: It's a Quad-Band phone with a VGA/0.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom. It has video playback in MPEG4. It has bluetooth, an internal memory of 5MB but no memory card slot. You have the ability to SMS, MMS, email and browse the web on this phone.

== …Detailed look at the phone… ==

…Battery Life…

The battery life on this phone is good. On the Motorola website, it says that it has a standby time: Up to 180 to 290 hours and a talk time: Up to 200 to 430 minutes. I believe this as my RAZR V3 lasted about 3 days roughly but it did give you plenty of warning before it actually died. It is annoying beep that it gives every so many minutes. The beep makes you want to charge your phone just to stop it.

…Camera…

Well, this camera is only 0.3 megapixel or a VGA camera as they call it. It doesn't really compare to any of the phones that are around now but we can't forget that this phone has been around for years and I remember people commenting that the camera looked great and it was so clear. It definitely was a brilliant camera when it first came out. It has an auto timer and you can change the lightening conditions, the resolution and the shutter tone in the settings. You can zoom in and out and change the exposure rate. There's no fancy settings to change the colours, put frames on it or morph my face but all in all, it's a nice camera if you just want the pictures to stay on the phone.
Also, there's the video camera. You can record with sound or no sound, you can change the video length from MMS to maximum, again you can change the lightening conditions and the resolution. The maximum seconds that you can store is 54. The sound isn't bad but the image pixelates quite a bit when moving it about.

…Menu, contacts and phoning…

Menu is very easy to use. You know what you're standing on by the bar at the top and the 4 red corner round the picture that you're standing on. On mine have Games, Vodafone Live!, Video Camera, Messaging, Camera, My Files, Organiser & Tools, Contacts, Call Log, Shortcuts, Connectivity and Settings.

The contacts are easy to use too. Contacts can hold upto 1000 people. You just have to remember to get more options press the middle buttons and there you will find lots of options to make new, edit and delete contacts, you can copy, print and send the contact to someone else.

Phoning, well, that's what you mainly do with your phone. You can your call log, which record all dialled, missed, received numbers. Also it tells you call times and data times. Call times, it tells you last call, dialled calls, received calls, all calls and lifetime calls. Nope, I'm not telling you want mine says as it's far too big to share lol.
The quality of the calls is good but when it's windy, you can barely hear what the other person is saying and the other person on the end can't hear you but like I've said before. I have to think of the age of this phone. While you're in a call you can make it louder by using the volume key on the side.
The green and red buttons to call are easy to use and finally Motorola has changed them round as Motorola seemed to be the only company that had it first red and then green instead of first green and then red.

…Music and ringtones…

Good god, there's no mp3 player on this phone. So the only way to listen to MP3s on this phone is in where you change your ringtones and as this phone only has an internal memory of 5MB, you can barely put two song on it before it's full. The ringtones are okay but some are very annoying.

…Texting…

I hate texting on this phone. The keys are so annoying. You have to press them hard and I never got use to it. Sending a text is quite simple though. When you have finally managed to type your message, just press send to and then it will take you to your contacts list and just make sure you mark the person you want to send it to by using the middle button (ie the circle) and send. You can selected many people that the same time, which is very handy when you're have a party and inviting lots of people.

…Other things…

Speakerphone is good as you can put it on loud speaker so everyone can hear. It's great when you have all the family around and one person wants to talk to many in the room.

Bluetooth is very easy to use. Just pick a picture or video you want to bluetooth, find the person you want to send it to and there we are.

The Organiser has an alarm clock, calculator, calendar and voice recorder. These are all pretty self explanatory.

The browser on mine is Vodafone live. It's very easy to use. You can either choose Vodafone Live or just go to an URL that you want to go to.

On my phone, I only have two games. Both demos. Block Breaker Deluxe and NY Nights. Both of these games are Java as Motorola RAZR V3 supports Java. Neither games interest me.

…My thoughts…

This is now what we call a basic phone. In its day, it was the best phone around and a lot of people loved it but not me. The text on the screen is quite small and flat keys were just annoying to text on. The camera still take nice pictures but the internal memory does limit you on how many pictures you can take. Now there are many phones out there that can top this phone for nearly the same price. Though saying that it's a great phone for kids as mine has been thrown on the floor, kicked (not by me) and it's quite durable and mine doesn't really have any scratches and the screen is well protected as it's a flip phone.
