When the RAZR V3 burst onto the market a few years back, it was certainly seen as the next step in mobile phone technology. Nowadays, it’s still competing and it’s still popular for users. But is it really any good???
I brought my black V3i model as part of an O2 contract, so obviously the phone was inclusive…always an advantage in my view! Roughly 9.5cm by 5.3cm by 1.5cm, it’s a sleek, clam-style opening phone design that looks good. When opened up, the big colour display screen is an obvious plus for any phone, with a number pad that’s not too small, especially when compared to smaller, fiddly models that you need a pen nib to hit the buttons one at a time!!
The menu gives you 9 separate options in a 3 x 3 grid all with unique icons – Camera, Contacts, Media Centre, WebAccess, Messages, Settings, Calls, Games and Extras. The arrow buttons on the keypad enable easy navigation up, down, left and right to whatever area you desire.
The SIM card capacity of the contact book is 250, however all mine are stored on the phone…just got to hope the phone doesn’t die on me then! Those that have more than 250 up-to-date contacts…well, you are a popular person!!
The phone has a memory space of roughly around 12 megabytes. But because it allows removable memory card use, and a 64mb card comes with the card, there’s not too much of a problem with regards to storage – I personally have not used this space up as I don’t tend to keep things like photos or videos on there for too long as I usually upload them onto my laptop. (Yes, you receive a USB connection cable to make that all possible!!)
The games aren’t particular awe-inspiring – AsphaltUrbanGT; a basic racing game. Rebels; or space invaders to the traditionalist and Solitare – not exactly a compendium there then. However O2’s website has a whole host of games that you can download, for a small charge, to add to your phone if you so wish.
The camera, on first impressions, doesn’t seem all that impressive and that the quality is fairly poor. However, once you upload them onto a higher definition screen such as a PC, you’ll notice that they are of a decent standard such as a disposable camera. The videos never seem to improve however, probably due to the aspects ratio…and perhaps due to the storage space, often the recording device will cut out during recording and then save what you’ve filmed rather than allowing you to continue filming for as long as you wish, or when the memory space runs out.
You can access a number of text based websites such as O2’s own one, on sites such as BBC or Wikipedia, and thankfully they don’t take too long to load…just be prepared to be denied access if it can’t open up a basic picture however.
The settings option allows you to get rid of some of the annoying noises such as the bleeping the keys make every time you press them (yes, that’s a pet hate of mine), and you can personalise the phone in a number of ways such as adding a greeting every time you turn your phone on, or a different home screen picture, or indeed a different ‘skin’ i.e. the borders and fonts for those in need of some help with the ‘lingo’!
Some people I know who have this phone say the battery life is very good, I must disagree however as within a couple of days it’ll usually need recharging, if not before if I’ve spoken on it for a while or sent a fair few text messages.
So it may not last a long weekend, but on the plus side it does seem to withstand the odd drop and knock. I’m hardly caring to it so it does get it’s fair share of whacks, and so far it’s stood up to the challenge…but please note, I still wouldn’t recommend dropping it out of a high storey window!!
There are better models out there on the market, even by Motorola, but its still good value for money. If you’re buying it as a Pay-as-you-go phone, you’ll probably pick it up for less than £100 nowadays so that’s pretty good value for money all things considering – yes the battery life isn’t the best, neither are the games that are available or the video quality. But for a consistent phone that won’t let you down, you won’t go far wrong with this little number...
Advantages: SLEEK DESIGN, COMPETETIVELY PRICED, BIG SCREEN, EASY TO USE Disadvantages: HARD TO GET EMAIL SETTINGS ON VODAFONE ON THIS MODEL
After reading a couple of the reviews on this phone on Ciao, I felt that some people were being unnecessarily put off of this phone by being given the wrong information.
Firstly, I must correct a few of the things off other reviews....
1) Voice records can be made by pressing and holding the key on the side that you can see in the above picture, the phone immediately starts recording and then can be instantly played back, the only draw back is ... ...as I know)
2) Speaking many languages and having loads of friends abroad means I need a phone with a good predictive text, this phone definitely has this, it even brings the most often used words to the top of the list of possible matches, so you can easily find the word you want to type, I even have words in 4 different languages in my predictive text, so its REALLY handy for me.
3) I have 3 different alarms on my phone and have a different tone ...

Advantages: Good battery, bluetooth, I tunes, many more Disadvantages: Not many!
I bought the motorola V3Im earlier this year as soon as it came out for no other reason than that it was red. Turns out I picked up an amazing phone, I've recently had to claim on my insurance and have a new one which seems more "right", so I'll tell you about that one. I got this phone on contract for free with O2 on their online 200 package plus insurance. you pay £5 a month insurance and £25 when you make a claim, but its well worth it if you ... ...it looks like every other Motorola V3. the screen is a good size and the buttons are easy to use.
The phone is quite light and of course very slim and easy to pocket. Annoying when trying to find it in the bottom of your bag though!
The red "bits" are very durable to scratching but the outside screen I've found can be damaged as mine developed a nice big star shaped cross on it. I claimed on the insurance and was sent a new phone the next day. ...

Advantages: big screen, easy to carry around, no accidently phone calls, can fit a phone strap easily Disadvantages: Difficult to use with hands free, a couple of problems and needed the phone replaced
I have had this phone for a year so it can be used for people only keeping this phone a short time or a longer period. I recommend this phone for up to a year maybe year and a half but not really any longer than that. In the past year I have had to send my phone back once but I normally can live with little problems so read on and see what you think.
Good points the phone has a big screen that you can see clearly, once you have played around with ... ...understand, there is a message button so you don't have to go into the menu to sort out your messages just press the button, you can change you phone from silent to loud or ring and vibrate from the buttons on the side of the phone without opening it, or if someone is ringing you and you want to stop it ringing without cutting them off because your dodging calls you just press a button the side of the phone without opening it and waa hay call dodged. ...

Advantages: sleek and sexy, large amount of features compared to original v3, value for money and generally easy to use Disadvantages: complex email setup
...always been a fan of motorola since i got my first mobile phone 7 years ago. the models have changed however the quality has stayed the same. For the last year i had the motorola Razor V3 which was slim, sexy and functional. On the launch of the Motorola RAZR V3i i was suprised at just how good this new model was.
The V3i is slim, sexy and hardwearing with a multitute of functions that i never imagined i would need on a mobile phone. The V3i includes:
... ...catching with itss glowing blue motorola symbol and green charging light and gorgeous metallic appearance. Totally top quality.
The only disadvantage i have found like others is the complexity of sorting out your email on this phone however for me this is a minor issue as i rarely use this facility anyway.
If your looking for a flip phone with a huge amount of funtions which is hard wearings, high quality and excellent value then the motorola V3i ...

The MotorolaRAZRV3i mobile phone is a very stylish easy to use mobile phone. It is so slim that you may forget that you are carrying a phone in your pocket, up until someone rings you!
This stylish flip phone actually has two display screens. A small screen on the outside, and the main screen inside. The advantage of having the outer screen is that you do not have to open the flip to see who's calling you. I do not wear a wrist watch, my main time piece has always been my phone. Since the RAZR...

ITS CUTE LOOKING SLIM PHONE.
ESPACIALLY PERFECT FOR LADIES.ITS KINDA SLIM PHONE UNIQUE TOUCH OF KEYAD..
ITS CUTE LOOKING ATTRACTION ATTRACTS EVERYBODY.I MYSELF USED MOTORAZER V3I FROM LAST 2 YRS.......

WELL ABOUT ITS CAMERA... ITS GOOD BUT NOT THT GOOD.IT SOMETIMES SHOTS A PIC LIKE SOMEONE IN WATER... SOME KINDA BLURISH STUFF IN PICZ AND SHOTS SOME ODD PHOTOS..
DONT EVEN HAVE INBUILT I-TUNES SOFTWARE.SO WITHOUT THAT SOFTWARE IF U WILL CLOSE UR FLAP.. MUSIC WILL STOP.
SO I DONT THINK THEY HAVE ACTUALLY FOCUED ON CEMERA.
I GUESS ITS SORT OF A MUSIC PHONE....

...and said that if I was interested they had these phones at a really reasonable price on E-bay. I thanked him and put down the phone. The only thing was I had no way of going onto E-bay.
Enter my night in shining armour. My dear friend John who said he would lend me his laptop, which he did. I was back on line and went straight to E-bay where I purchased my longed for phone. Which was unlocked and without a sim card.
I did go back to Phones4U where Daniel put an Orange pay as you go sim card in the phone for me. Which cost the princely sum of £9.99.
The Package.
