When it comes to phones everyone seems to have a Nokia of one kind or another so I wanted to be different. I wanted one that has the same features as the newer Nokias but wanted something that people won’t just think another Nokia! So after trekking around loads of mobile phones shops I came across the Motorola T191e, which seems to fulfil my requirements and is smaller than most Nokias, which is a bonus. I bought mine from Orange and it was a steal at £100 on the Pay As You Go tariff.
It has a lot going for it as far as features are concerned but I will start off from the thing you first notice styling and design. It is small at only 106mm long 40mm in width and just 15mm in depth. The screen is large and very easy to see with a good backlight so it is still visible when it is dark. This makes it superb for slipping into your pocket. It is light too at 85g so you won’t feel like you have a brick in your hand. It has a stylish silver and grey finish. The buttons are small yet accessible and the menu navigation buttons are well situated and easy to use. Similarly, the call and end call buttons are well placed making using the phone childs play. Incorporated in the design is a quick access button to the answer phone as well as a single button lock the keys.
The battery power is another big consideration of anyone who is buying a new phone. In this case the phone can be on standby for 5 days. You can talk on it for 2 hrs before the battery will die. It charges fairly quickly however with it fully charging in 160 minutes from flat (after its initial 16hr charge).
So now I turn my attention to the phones features and will start with the basics. Like all phone it can store number and this one can extend the 90 a SIM card can hold to a huge 189 numbers. It can hold 10 text messages at the same time too. You can pre-write messages and store them to enable you to send frequently used messages easily and quickly. It has predictive text messaging making your messages easier to write and quicker to send. It also has icon messages and can handles pictures messages. The phone also incorporates voice activated dialling enabling you to say a persons name and then the phone will automatically call them. You can use 7 one-touch dial numbers as well as a having a speed dial facility for every number on the phone! It has a call waiting and call hold facility allowing you to manage your calls easily and efficiently. Overall accessing the phone book and making calls is really easy as to is texting.
The phone also includes WAP services, which I have actually used and although WAP in general is pretty rubbish the phone handles the sites well. It did assist me to enhance the screensaver feature of my phone. Using WAP you can download new screensavers and store them to use as you wish. There isn’t a huge selection but you are bound to find one that you like.
There is a large selection of ringtones available totalling 27. There are also 5 empty spaces for you to compose your own using the ringtone composer. This feature is really difficult to use although I have now mastered it and created my own tones. At first it seems impossible but if you can read sheet music, which I can’t then you shouldn’t have too much difficulty. The codes for these tones can be found on the Internet. There is however some good tones supplied with the phone if you can’t master the composer. The phone also has a vibrate facility to alert to a call or message discretely.
There are other simple yet very useful features including and alarm clock, a calculator, a stopwatch and a calendar and diary. These are all very easy to use and handy for when you are out and about. The phone also displays the date, day, month and time so you always know the time.
There are also six games included which: Snake (different version from that on Nokias), Tetris, Numbers, Brick, Five Stone and Box World. This is undoubtedly the greatest selection of games I have ever seen on one phone. They are all very easy to play and be warned they are very addictive. Snake is fun yet more difficult for its Nokia counterpart, for Tetris you have to turn the phone on its side but is brilliant. Brick is basically the classic game alleyway. Five Stone I have to admit is too confusing for me and I never mastered it. Box world is a game of though and strategy, which is entertaining, while more challenging than the others.
There is a quick access menu, which you customise to suit your needs. This is brilliant because it save you hunting through the main animated menu. The menus are however easy to use and you soon get used to where thing are located.
All in all it is a superb phone for the money. It is outstanding value since it is literally packed with features considering it is extremely small and lightweight. I would highly recommend it. It certainly rivals the Nokias in my eyes and may even surpass it. If you a fancy a new phone why not go for this one.
Advantages: looks and sounds good Disadvantages: some minor flaws
...I was bought this one-The Motorola t191e.And it really is rather good.
I cannot fool you, I am no technological expert...this is going to be in laymans terms, but I will do my best to provide a thorough opinion chock-full of relevant information. Already I have set myself up for a fall.
But here goes...
*Aesthetics
The phone looks very snazzy, being small, silver and rounded at the corners, with tiny little keys and a nice, clear little screen ... ...wall on it, which i suspect takes up far more battery power than its novelty value is really worth. But more and more these days phones are accessories as well as practical devices, and his one certainly fulfills both these requests.
The screen usefully displays the time and date and has a pleasant green glowing backlight for when its dark.
*Ease of use
I have tiny hands so the keys are fine for me, but friends with more sausage-like digits complain ...

Advantages: Lots of features, nice and compact, quick charging time Disadvantages: A lot easier to lose than a larger phone
...we have phones like the Motorola T191e. A nice, compact little silver box, with more features than you could shake a stick at (if you like shaking sticks at features that is). This phone is all that you would expect from a similar Nokia model, and more. These features include:

Stopwatch
Calculator
WAP Internet capability
SMS Text Messaging (including an SMS Chat facility)
6 Games
Screensaver Support

Ringtone Composer
-----------------
I know of this facility, and I've tried using it, but I'll be damned if I can make head or tail out of it. This is because the ringtone composer uses a format similar to sheet music in order to get the notes. Unless you know sheet music, then it will be either extreme guesswork or major luck if you get anything good out of it. However, this is no problem as I am ...

Advantages: Small, sleek & handy with selection of features. Disadvantages: A few acceptable limitations.
...In my opinion the Motorola T191 is exactly the right size, nice and discretely pocket sized, but not too small so that you lose it the depths of you bag, pocket or where ever you choose to store it when not in use. Its smooth curves allow for easy extraction or insertion into pockets along with making it very comfortable to hold. The screen is also nice and clear. ...would do this was the Motorola T191.I purchased one for £89 on Pay as you Go, on the understanding that it would work if I placed my contract sim card into it. It did!
I excitedly set off for home with my rather smart new phone.

THE MENU:
The menu is fairly straightforward. I got muddled to start with as I was so used to a Nokia, but I very soon adapted to this style of menu. It has a large menu bar on the front of the phone and you scroll around the pictorial menu by using the up and down arrows, pretty much like any other phone.
SMS:

Advantages: Small, light, reasonable price and has a colour screen. Disadvantages: Buttons can be a bit fiddly and when not in used the screen can be a bit dark.
I first noticed the Sagem MY X-2 glancing through an Argos offers brochure. I wasn't really looking for a new mobile phone, but this caught my eye. My MotorolaT191 was getting a bit battered and I fancied a change. The MY X-2 was on sale for £59.95 on T-Mobile Pay as You Go, and for £69.95 with Vodafone Pay as You Go. I opted for the Vodafone model as I could easily switch over as I am already with Vodafone.
The phone itself looks pretty good, the one I bought has a silver casing, but you can buy interchangable covers. It's light and weighs about 90g, and measures 98mm(h) and 44mm(w). The screen displays a lot of details: battery life, reception, clock, menu, day and date and the network you're with. You can also customise the background picture with 19 wallpapers which range from flowers and beach scenes or just a plain ...

relatively natural. The colour screen is big but not the biggest on the market; not as big as the Samsung T100 or V200, but as big as the colour Nokias currently on the market. The camera can be set up to various resolutions to enhance the speed of upload and MMS-ing, and works well. The brightness can be adjusted to aid viewing and filming - again, another plus point.
Now for the no's; no data cable for download to your PC, no case or carrying strap, no other networks apart from T-Mobile unless you buy the unlocked versions on EBay, and no guarantee that the battery will last a year - the instruction booklet actually states that the battery capacity will reduce every time you charge and discharge it and may only last six months!

Advantages: just about makes calls and texts Disadvantages: too numerous to mention in a tagline
Okay, where do I start, I've had this phone for over a year now... Been with Orange for aaaages ever since they did their pay-as-you-go-and-get-a-trusty-Motorola-brick-for-£29 deal back in the late 90's. Then I got the ill-fated MotorolaT191, so when I went into the Oxford Street Orange shop last year wanting something a little bit special for a change (I don't want all bells and whistles, just phone/messaging plus a halfway decent camera) they recommended this. Looking back on it, they were extremely dismissive and acted like they had a million and one better things to do other than actually sell me a phone that I wanted. So, bearing that in mind, here are the pros:
- Good, simple user interface
- Radio headset good
- Battery life excellent
- It texts
And here are the cons:
- Rubbish ringtones. Didn't even have 'ring ring ...
