Walkabout with a Talkabout

Advantages: No Call Charges, Call signal, Scan function
Disadvantages: Price

...current evolutionary tree is the Motorola Talkabout t6222 and it was a pair of these that a group of friends and I took on a recent holiday in the Lake District.

In the box that each handset comes in (you have to buy them seperately), you get a handset, manual and belt-clip. the manual can only be described as 'brief', telling you the bare minimum you need to get up and running with precious little detail on anything else. Fortunately ...
...the palm of the hand. Motorola tout the unit as being shock and splash proof. having dropped one of mine in a shallow puddle, i can vouch for this. Having said that, the unit is not actually waterproof so if you submerse it in water, it WILL break. With a full set of 3 AA batteries fitted it is heavier than a mobile but not massively so, tipping my kitchen scales at 200g.

You can use either standard batteries or rechargeables. Standard ... more

TALK ABOUT TWO WAY RADIOS!

Advantages: QUITE LIGHT, ERGONOMICALY SHAPED, LONG RUNNING TIME
Disadvantages: HUGE ARIEL THEREFORE BULKY

My family and I bought about 6 of these "radios" while we were skiing on holiday in Boston, America, and some of us wanted to go off and have a bit more freedom. We had seen other people using contraptions not unlike the ones e bought and thought they looked good and would be a way of not getting lost. They performed well over the wide, open piestes and enabled us to always have contacts with the other members of our family. Since we got home we ...
...on a cruise ship; going around markets or car boot sales; we lent them to a friend going snow boarding; going around fairgrounds; and generally places where we children would like more freedom from our parents, while still being safe. The radios are better than mobile phones in a sense that mobile phones are expensive to use and you pay to contact people, with the Talkabout T6222's, its free and you can contact everyone in your party at the same ...

Lets Talkabout T6222

Advantages: Shock and water resistant comes on bright colours
Disadvantages: only 2.4 hours continuous talk time with Nimh rechargeable batteries and only two mile range subject to terrain and conditions.

The new Motorola Talkabout T6222 "walkie talkie" is a very interesting piece of equipment, its very easy to use with 8 diffrent channels, 38 diffrent codes and 8 frequencies. It comes in three diffrent colours, blue, yellow and Black. You can operate this radio in any country where authorised. The good thing about this radio pack is there is no "Air time charge" you just pop in three AA batteries or a Nimh pack and use straight away, also you have ...
...Vibra call and voice scrambeling which is aimed to stop eavesdropping. Its very lightweight. The disadvantages of this item doesnt really out weigh the advantages as there is only 3 disadvantages that i can come up with they are: - its not waterproof so any water damage will ruin it, if the radio packs are less than 1.5 meters apart you will get really bad interferance. NiMH battery packs only give 2.4 hours talk time and only 39 hours standby time ...
