I bought the Motorola Ti250e "Timeport" mobile phone, because I was due to be in the USA for 6 weeks and wanted a phone that could be used there. I have been using Nokias for the last three years (started off with what seems like the ancient Nokia 6150, then progressed onto the "Matrix" look-a-like phone, the Nokia 7110, with WAP);

Although my Nokia 7110 was dual band, it apparently, would not be able to receive or make calls in all fifty states. So I needed to change. After visiting several mobile phone shops, I decided to go for the tri-band Timeport on the Orange tariff (previously on Vodafone), as it could be used anywhere, I was told by the very knowledgeable sales rep., and the deal was amazing. for just £49.99, the phone was mine and for £15.00 per month I had 50 minutes every day inclusive, plus a lot of my friends were on Orange, so no more cross-network charges.

Two days after purchasing my new phone, I went off to America. I got off the aircraft on the first leg of my flight at Philadelphia Airport (PHL), and after clearing immigration (late, I had to be re-booked onto another flight by those nice people at British Airways ground staff at PHL), I was waiting around for my next flight, which was to Pittsburgh International (PIT).

So, to let me friends know that I'll be delayed, I get out my new Timeport, switch it on, and BINGO! It connects straight away without any further fiddling around. Same again when I arrived at PIT.

It's really light, at just 102gms, 210 mins. talktime, but only 150 hours standby (my 7110 had over 270 hours!); It only had space for 399 phone entries (as opposed to the 7110's 1000), but did have a very useful, indiglo-blue background and voice-activated dialling for 25 numbers (a definite plus over the 7110); WAP features are quick (although I did only test this in the UK), and I do like the vibrate-once-then-ring facility.

Overall, a very versatile and practical thing of beauty - well recommended to all thinking of a change of mobile phone.
