Introduction ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Motorola V2288, not the best looking of phones but still a damn good phone in my opinion. The phone is available on BTCellnet pay and go for £40, so if your after a cheap phone then the V2288 is for you.
Features ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Motorola V2288 comes with FM radio which is a saviour on bus and train journeys until I have enough money for a mini-disc. The V2288 also has WAP which is nothing special to be honest. WAP is not really the internet, it only has selected websites. For example you couldn’t go to the Ciao website on it. The V2288 also has 3 games, Bricks, Towers of Hanniai and Baccarat. Bricks is the best, you have a pallet which you bounce a ball off which has to hit bricks. Towers of Hanniai is a puzzle game. Baccarat is a very boring card game. The games aren’t exactly snake but there still something to do to waste time.
Networks and Tariffs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can get the V2288 on pay and go for BTCellnet and Orange. It costs £40 on BTCellnet, £79.99 on Orange. This big price difference is because BTCellnet heavily subsidise the cost of their phones, Orange don’t. You can also get the V2288 on line rental (contract) tariffs. Though it is only available on BTCellnet and it costs £19.99. Not really worth it when the slightly better looking Nokia 3310 is free on rental.
Looks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another good thing about this phone is that you can change the covers. The phone has “wrap on” covers that are either plastic or rubber. The variety of covers aren’t great, as far as I know you can only get covers. No flags or footie teams! The phone comes with 2 covers. I got a dark blue plastic cover and an illumines rubber cover. You can put them on or you can leave your phone plain white. The dark blue one looks okay and I have that on, the illumines cover looks awful, it makes your phone look like a toy-phone.
Overall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great value phone on pay and go that is great for people not wanting to spend much on a mobile phone. Interesting features make this one of the best budget phones on the market. The radio can keep you sane if you have to travel on a school bus which plays Jazz FM, a pair of handy headphones come with the V2288 for the radio. You can only listen to the radio with these, you can also use them as a hands-free kit. So your kind of getting a free hands free kit too.
