The Motorola V2288 was one of the first mobile phones to have a built in Fm radio… Okay I admit it that’s the only reason I bought the phone. I bought mine from eBay an online auction site for very little, £44 to be exact.
Value.
Theses phones retail at very little. They started off at £79.99 and then went to £69.99 and the £59.99. I believe that they can be bought for less than that now but I wouldn’t recommend one. Value isn’t a strong point on this phone as the amount of features it has is very little I would proberley prefer a 3210 or even 5110.
Looks.
If anything this phone is a little ugly. To improve its looks you can by a selection of rap-a-rounds. Rap around are bits of rubber that wrap around your phone. These can be bought from about £0.50p each. They don’t improve the look of the phone much just give it a bit of colour.
SMS Messaging
Sms messages are a quick and easy way to keep in touch. You can use the text messaging by keying in the letters by using the phones keypad. This handset can hold up to 10 messages.
Ringing Tones.
All the ringing tones are all very boring and normal. There is no fancy melodies or anything like that on this one. In total you have the choice of 11 melodies. The tones are not very loud and a very hard to hear in the busy town centre of Coventry.
Size.
This really should come under looks but o well. This handset is a little on the big side for me. It doesn’t fit in my hand very well and its funny shape makes it feel a little wired compared to all those Nokia phones.
Size= 130mm 40mm by 27mm.##
The phones little window (Screen).
The little window is a good size and things can easily been read. The layout of the screen is the same as the Motorola M3788e, one of the cheapest phones out!
Ease of use.
This phone is quite easily to use. The instruction manual is quite simple though I have only read it once, out of interest really.
Reliability. In the short time I had my phone I had no problems crop up. I sold this phone to a friend for £45 and he has had no problems. Motorola phones are generally reliable… probably because threes nothing to them.
Wap.
I have never used this feature, as I know I am not going to be impressed. Apparently on the wap you can access weather and news headlines. I have used wap on other Motorola phones such as the time port and was quite disgusted on how they can call it Internet. For those that have never used the mobile Internet its nothing like the p.c.
Battery life.
The battery life on this phone is very poor. On standby I normally get 2 days but if i am lucky I may get three. The battery call time is also very poor after 2 long phone calls it will be bleeping to let you know it needs a charge.
Reception and call quality.
This is to a poor standard for a relativley new phone. It’s not as old as my Fathers Motorola M3788e but just as bad. You get trouble to find a strong signal in the countryside where others (Nokia 3330) would have full.
The amount of features on this handset is very poor. There is no calendar or clock, alarm clock or anything like that. Features worth mentioning are the Fm radio, text messages and err that’s about it.
Overall.
This is a ‘poor’ phone its quite expensive for what it is. If you desperately need wap (god help you if you do) then you cant go wrong but if your out for a bargain try out www.ebay.co.uk. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.
Brilliant op, looking forward to reading more of yours! :)
