This was the biggest accessory for girls 2 years ago after "it" girls like Paris Hilton were seen with it. Of course I had to get it thinking that not only was it stylish but it had a lot of handy tools. I wasn't happy with what I got.
***The Phone*** Motorola describe their phone as "expertly crafted to deliver exceptional performance. Inside the stunning, ultra-thin design are advanced features like MPEG4 video playback, Bluetooth® wireless technology, a digital camera and more. And with the precision-cut keypad, minimalist styling and metal finish, the V3 has its own unmistakable look". But is it as dazzling as they are making out? Simply, NO! Razr seems to have difficulty with a lot of it's built in accessories like the Bluetooth and you'll often find that one Razr phone has different applications
to the next. The phone is stunning to look at and I really couldn't resist because it was pink. The buttons are easy to us with additional buttons on the side of the phone for volume and to take pictures.
***Bluetooth*** A lot of my friends had bought this phone around the same time as I did. Some had success with bluetooth whereas others didn't. What was common was lack of space. I was able to send people pictures and sound clips from my phone occasionally but it could be a right hassle. But I could only recieve 2 things because I didn't have another memory on the phone. I couldn't recieve photos, only sound clips like ringtones, definatly no music, and if I wanted to recieve something new then I had to delete one of the others. I got really fed up with it and haven't bothered even trying. Bluetooth is pretty much useless with this phone. I did find this statement by Motorola on their website "Available user memory varies due to the configuration of the phone, which varies by service provider." Still unacceptable for how much it was bought for!
***Internet*** Now here is where I got confused. There was an option to use WAP with this phone but everytime I tried it was a failure. I have a half contract with my provider which means that I have so many texts and call time but after that I need to top up my phone for more. I have never topped up my phone and never will but maybe that's where I was going wrong. I'm not sure whether you need credit and I've never asked anyone but it seems the logical way of getting internet access on your phone.
***Digital Camera*** I was slightly impressed with the camera because I found it quite clever that I could take pictures with my phone closed. On the side of the phone is a button, when the phone is closed you can press it and with the phone facing you, there you will appear on your screen. Press the button again to take a photo. I soon got over it and didn't use it much but it did come in handy as a mirror. The camera has a 4x Digital zoom that is okay but the quality of the photos differ. I remember taking a photo of my friend inside a cafe and it came out blue. I also found that some photos would be very clear and others would be a little fuzzy. The memory is good and it has stored a lot of photos for me. Overall, I can't complain much because it does a decent job for a camera phone. But there's nothing that really impressed me.
***Fun Features*** Fun is not a word I use for them, unnecessary sounds more like it. Once again a lot of the applications available require credit. The games are half decent with Skipping Stones - a puzzle game, Billiards - pool games, and Golf - which isn't much fun at all. They are run on Java which doesn't cost anything but apart from texting is the only thing you can use with this phone if you don't have credit.
Video Playback - On the motorola website they say that this is a feature but once again I found my phone differing from my friends. While I had a slideshow option on my mobile my friend, who owned a black razr, had video. I don't know why it would differ so much if they were supposed to be the same model but in different colours. So don't count on definatly getting a video option if you buy the phone.
Motomixer - Where you can make your own ringtones. It's nothing incredible and I was excited at first untill I played on it a bit and realised it was the same ugly tones I got from my old Nokia phones.
Downloadable Themes/Wallpaper and Ringtones - a useful feature to have as long as you have internet options available and lots of credit to waste. I have never used it and don't know of many who have had much success.
There are some other options like chatting but you need to have lots of credit once again to use these.
***Conclusion*** I'm pretty miffed with this phone as when I bought it, 2006ish, it was a lot of money at around £200 and apart from looks it didn't offer me much. If you want to have an active bluetooth then do not get this phone. If you don't have much credit but want something to do on your phone, don't get it. It's a poor excuse for one of the supposed "it" icons. The only good features are 2 of the games it features, an okay camera and a bold hot-pink colour to it - which isn't amazingly gorgeous! Do not get this phone!
