The V50 by Motorola is a fantastic phone. Although it may not have as many glitzy features as other phones, it serves its purpose well. It is an update of the V3690 and it is availiable in silver or dark blue. Depending on your contract, you can get it for a range of prices, up to no more than £149. It is not availiable on pay as you go - or so I believe.
The V50 has WAP capabilities, and although I don't use this feature, it may prove useful to others. Similarly, I choose not to use the ringtone composer as a wide range of tones are pre-set. However, you can easily make up your own or download them from the internet.
Texting people is very easy and Motorola have improved on their previous model by allowing the user to see who has sent the text - it's frustrating not being able to see. You have a choice of predictive text or standard input. Having got used to the predictive text, I find this the easier setting.
Games are also a new feature. They're fun or a while - one of those novelties which gradually wear off. But the games on the V50 are much more fun than on other phones!!
The signal you recieve it comparitive to others. And the reception is good. The battery lasts for about 3 days if you use it occasionally every day but it obviously varies with your use. It take about an hour and a bit to charge from empty to full power.
In such a small phone from the outside, you would think the screen would be small. This is not the case and the text is very clear. I was surprised at how easy it was to read! The buttons are average size too, although the size of the phone is downsized, the features within the phone itself are still a good size.
The phone is small and very light. A definate bonus. Also, it is extremly scratch resistant and seems to surivive a few knocks and bumps here and there!
If you buy a motorola phone and something goes wrong (my microphone speaker temporarily stopped working - a real nusicance) then the customer survice you recieve is excellent. You phone up the company, explain the problem and give the a few numbers from the back of the phone. Hey presto! The next day, a courier picks up your phone and when it has been checked and fixed (free of charge) it is returned to you by special delivery! I was amazed at their helpfulness. Definattly a thing to remember when buying a new phone.
Advantages: Very small phone with lots of features Disadvantages: Some quirks and a couple of bugs to be sorted
...what have those guys at Motorola been doing for the last couple of years apart from a quick respray in silver?
Quite a bit, it would seem. My first ever mobile, 3 years ago was an "mr201" on Orange (a d140, to the rest of the world, I believe), and most Motorolas I'd seen since then had varied very little, including my v3688 I had 2 years ago, which feature-wise was almost identical to the mr201. Not so with the new V50, which seems to have been ... ...taking up the whole screen and you scrolling (or "wading") through them with the arrow keys, the menus are now presented three options per screen and you scroll up and down. This is all very tasty, and the smooth scrolling between options is very posy, but not at all practical, as the scrolling is very slow, and pressing the arrow key 4 times doesn't necessary mean it will scroll 4 options down. This can cause much frustration until you discover ...

Advantages: Small, Stylish and Sexy Disadvantages: Slow sometimes, little tedious.
...other type of phone. The motorola v50 is pretty good although accessing some menus is tedious and you may miss your old mobile phone because this one isn't so user friendly. The phone has occasionaly slowed down on me and one month after reciving it, the screen did just muck up and go blank on me. This was replaced but only because it was a recent fault so anyone buying this phone, it IS worth getting insurance because I think it is supposed to have ... ...like very much is the fact that it vibrates and you can record voice notes and telephone conversations. It also has a useful number of alarms that can be set on it. New games for me to test like 'Bricks', 'Baccarat' and 'Tower of Hannoi' but I think the only intersting one is bricks where you hit a ball off a moveable block to hit other blocks which dissapear and gain you points. Baccarat is some kind of card game and Tower of Hannoi is some kind ...

Advantages: Small, Stylish, Great for Calls, Light, WAP enabled. Disadvantages: Easily Damaged, Limited Functions.
I have had my phone for over a year and a half now. I bought it to replace my ericson mobile which was stolen. I chose it because it looked stylish and was very small and light and had was a flip-top phone. It is also WAP enabled.
Although a great looking phone, I had hoped that its functions were as good as it looked. Phone sales people are anything but helpful. I was assured that it was a great phone, but truthfully it was just a standard phone.
... ...although the shop only had silver available. However I have also seen a black phone. The black phone was an older version and not WAP enanbled.
The phone is extreemly light, very stylish and rather pretty. I think it makes an excellent phone for women. It does need alot of TLC, as it can get damaged rather easily. I dropped it while playing with it at table, onto the table and it picked up a dent from that small fall. If you drop it onto the floor, ...

Advantages: Small Disadvantages: Might break, limited features
I bought a Motorola V50 about...hmmm...a year ago? Here's what it's all about:
**~~WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?~~**
This is one of the smallest phones around at the moment and you'll usually find it in silver. It's very compact but some people say that the aerial looks a bit on the chunky side. I like it - it's a good looking phone compared to other phones around which can be a bit bulky, square and brick-like! The inside has a surprisingly big screen ... ...GAMES LIKE?~~**
Pretty good considering Motorola never used to put games on their phones! My favourite is Bricks (you might know it as fireball). On Towers of Hanoi you can set your level - beware! You might play this game for hours!
**~~HOW EASY IS IT TO NAVIGATE AROUND THE PHONE?~~**
It's easy once you get used to it. If you're used to a Nokia or Siemens phone, suing a V50 might not make much sense when you first use it! It's not difficult though. ...

Advantages: Stylish, pocket-sized, multi featured phone Disadvantages: Not as sturdy as I'd like and the bad selection of ring tones
...the reason for choosing the Motorola V50 was because I’m sick to death of every other person having a Nokia, and because the Sony was sold out, goddamit. First, the most important aspect when buying a mobile: How it looks. The V50 looks VERY stylish. It’s about 4 ½ inches long including the arial, obviously longer when you lift up the flip top bit to reveal the buttons. It’s a matt silver colour with a shiny silver stripe at the ... ...a certain Mr Mobile that Motorola make a quality phone.
I’ve seen it retail at about £169, but I got mine free through the One To One precept deal. To get yours for free, you have to pay at least £25 a month (Although you can change to a lower charge after a month) or up to £75 (depending on which you choose the amount of free calls and text messages varies), but for a lower deal you pay £49 for the phone. One To One is cheaper then Vodaphone ...

Advantages: The V220 is easy to use and is great value for money! Disadvantages: Not ideal for anyone looking for something flashy!!
...I bought this phone a few months ago, I was already with Virgin, and considering so far they had proved to be quite cheap I decided to stay with them. I had a very tight budget and found this phone was the best one available in my price range.
The phone itself is certainly the most attractive in that price range and has many advantages. First there is the camera, a fantastic bonus for such a low priced phone, its very easy to use and the quality isn't bad either. Secondly is its entertainment value. There are three games all of which are great fun and again easy to play. The MotorolaV220 also offers 50 great ringtones and the ability to create your own.
The main problem I found with this phone is the lack of memory, I often found myself having to choose between my photos or messages. It could also at times be slow when you first...

Advantages: Small, light and easy to use Disadvantages: no colour screen
...I've owned a Nokia 8310 for nearly a year now and have found it to be one of the most reliable and dependable phones i've ever had.
I've been through my fair share of phones, starting from the old nokia 5110, to the sony z5, motorolav50, nokia 3310, sony ericsson t68i and the new motorolav600, which i sold. But although you might think some of the other phones i mentioned are better because they may take pictures, or can make funny noises with their polyphonic ring tones, the Nokia 8310 soley as a phone rates highly.
Firstly the size and weight of the phone make it desirable, and at the same time not being too small you cant see the buttons. Also you can change the covers of the phone to suit your taste.
The features are excellent, you have everything you expect from a nokia, including a built in FM radio, wap browser...

Advantages: Sleek design Disadvantages: Only Vodafone
.... This is a momentous amount of time compared to other phones with similar specification. At this moment, you may think the battery must be large; however this is not the case. The battery is similar in size to the MotorolaV50 and I feel the improvement in long-lasting battery life doesn’t stop here for Sharp.
The external screen is also very useful to take pictures of yourself and mates, but most of all the date/time when the phone is flipped close. This screen is also full colour but it only supports a low number of pixels compared to the main display.
The icons of been fully reworked into bringing 3D modern graphic user interface. Personally, they have more detail than those icons of the Windows XP. Honestly.
There is only one game to offer when bought new which seems pretty boring but did have me addicted for a while...
