As far as i can tell from the other reviews a lot of people haven't had many problems with this phone.

However, i bought mine last year from a phone shop in town and it broke after 2 weeks; the screen wouldn't turn on at all, and the keypad would light up every time i pressed a button. i tried different batteries in it, i tried taking it to the shop but they couldn't find anything wrong with it mechanically.

They took the phone back. But I wouldn't have another one, and here's why:

For the brief time that my phone did work, i'll admit that it looked great. however, it froze very often, smply if i just flicked it open the phone would freeze 8 times out of ten. The bluetooth was very slow compared to everyone else when i tried transferring files to and from my phone. I know two other people that had the phone, and theirs did exactly the same thing (without breaking completely like mine). The joystick fell off both of their phones after 2 months of average use, which seems pretty stupid.

The phone has hardly any memory at all - about enough to hold one mp3 and a few messages. This is no good for the market it is aimed at - young people who enjoy flashy phones tend to want to be able to store and play music on them, which isnt the case here.

The man in the shop told me that the design of the phone is pretty rubbish - the data cable for the screen gets damaged when you flick the phone open and shut, which is very stupid seeing as this is how you are meant to use the phone.

The phone does look great. i loved the lights round the edge which flash in time to music/sound, however i would prefer a phone that actually works reliably to one that looks pretty but doesn't do much else. This phone is a case of all show and no go unfortunately, which is a shame as the phone had a groundbreaking design at the time and had the potential to be something very special.

I'd reccomend giving this one a miss if you want a phone that'll work when you want it to; The sony-eriksson s700i is a much better alternative in my opinion, it doesn't break or freeze anywhere near as much, and sure it doesn't flick open like a switchblade (you have to push it round) but at least it doesn't destroy the data cable when you open it :D.
