Advantages: Cheap, Nice and easy, its PINK!!, Not only pink, Black too, Built in radio Disadvantages: Not many functions, although does what it says on the tin
After my Motorola V500 decide to break down on me last year, I was in desperate need to get a new phone, especially as the kids are at school now and I need to be able to be contacted at all times.
Thing is it decided to break down when I was very low on funds lol (funny that, how appropriate) so Obviously I was on a budget and was limited to what I was able to get.
Time for our trusted friend the Argos book :o)
... ...for this one, well the Motorola W220.
Well how could i not it was PINK!!! :o) And only £40.00 so that was really quite a bargain, well compared to the prices of the other phones,
So went off the pay for it and was pleasantly surprised to be told it was only £25.00.
Well I had to get it now didn't I would have been a fool not too.
So after waiting for what seemed like ages (as I'm sure you know what Argos ... more
After my Motorola V500 decide to break down on me last year, I was in desperate need to get a new phone, especially as the kids are at school now and I need to be able to be contacted at all times.
Thing is it decided to break down when I was very low on funds lol (funny that, how appropriate) so Obviously I was on a budget and was limited to what I was able to get.
Time for our trusted friend the Argos book :o) I flicked through to the Phone pages and found a few that i liked, (well they may not have been my first choices but were within budget) so we hoped in the car and went straight over.
After umming and ahhing over various makes and models (actually quite indecisive, if offered too much choice) I opted for this one, well the Motorola W220.
Well how could i not it was PINK!!! :o) And only £40.00 so that was really quite a bargain, well compared to the prices of the other phones, So went off the pay for it and was pleasantly surprised to be told it was only £25.00. Well I had to get it now didn't I would have been a fool not too.
So after waiting for what seemed like ages (as I'm sure you know what Argos is like, even though your told it'll only be five minutes) my phone came to collection.
Not being able to resist opening it before we got home, (even though its only like a 5 minute drive) I started fiddling with it in the car.
I was actually quite surprised to see how particularly modern and trendy this model looked. Well it is PINK!! Although will add that it also comes in BLACK, just encase you were worrying.
And even though it is Pink is comes in a very deep dark pink, which is very flattering to this model, just encase you only like certain shades of Pink. (See I am thinking of everyone) so nothing too harsh and bright.
It also has a lovely Smooth and Shiny neat finish. Perhaps silky may come to mind, (which may lead to slight stroking of it lol or not), as you are clearly able to see from the stock photo.
It is quite big, although not a brick, but standard size and averagely thin. (Although remembering how much i paid, i wasn't expecting something sensational) specifics are 95 x 46 x 16.7 mm, 74 cc, But just to envision the image in your mind, well if you know the Motorola range, not as chunky as the V models although slightly chunkier than the Razr and Krzr models
Not forgetting to mention is of Flip-Front style, which comes in very useful to avoid making unknown accidental and sometimes very embarrassing calls lol. So Good to know your keypad is locked at all times.
It is of average weight, although much lighter than my previous Motorola at only 93 g
I was very surprised to find was included earphones and that it had a Built-In radio. Perhaps an added extra to add a slight extra attractiveness to this specific model, as it is very basic otherwise. And am happy to say it works extremely well and gets perfect signal and transmission.
I know this sounds like I had a very dim opinion of what type of Phone I may have been receiving as I was particularly surprised here and extremely surprised there, although generally compared to other lower budget mobiles, on a number of occasions my expectations of budget were not even matched.
To be truthfully honest I was very surprised to see how this phoned faired over other models and so far have been very impressed.
It has all the Basic functions today's basic mobile needs. Phonebook where you can include up to 600 entries, Making and Receiving calls, Text messaging, Web access, Games and a number of other bog standard applications, like a Calculator and Alarm clock. (I'll save the rest so you have a few surprises :o)
I was pretty surprised to see MMS messaging on this model, as unfortunately it does not come equipped with a camera nor has bluetooth or infra red technology built in, so it did leave me wondering how i could fully appreciate this feature and too be honest have not used it. It does have two templates already added on so if it was somebody s birthday you could send them quite a festive Birthday Message, although that's about it and does not have any other pre loaded picture images included on this model, so you cant even create your own.
Although in my view this does not my affect my impression of this particular phone, as it is not what i would call essential, Yes its fun but Not really needed.
The only extra feature I have come across included is the Built-In Radio, which i have to say is very useful, and comes in very handy if I am stuck on long bus journeys. You can listen to it through the earphones, or as normal through you phones built in speaker (although do have to have the earphones plugged in regardless)
Like i said before, I feel they may have included this just to give it a bit of Oomph, as it is otherwise a very basic phone.
Even though it does have a Colour Screen, which is a lovely added extra. It does not actually have an external colour screen, which you find quite commonly among the Flip-Front style phones, so no added bonus of seeing who you want to ignore lol, although does not automatically answer on open. Although you do get Flashing Indicators, showing up on the Front Panel, letting you know if you missed a call or have a new message. (Again as you can see above on the stock photo) so not all bad :o)
It is a very easy phone to navigate yourself around, and as there are not too many different features to explore you don't get too confused, trying to find what you want. It has a very basic text style and the size of the text is quite large.
Obviously if you have never used a Motorola style phone before, you will have to get used to the way the keys are laid out and what each one does, although that applies to everyone using a different model of phone for the first time, so nothing out of the ordinary.
The keypad is of standard size too and does light up when using it. Quite useful, if you are texting in the dark ;o) Perhaps no electric lol And has general sized buttons, although more to the style of touch screen buttons, not individual buttons set in, but still very manageable and not at all touch sensitive.
It does have quite a long lasting battery and I find myself hardly ever having to charge it, although i don't actually use it that much a day, so it will be different for each individual, but overall I never really notice it running out of charge relatively quickly. It does have a stand-by time of up to 290 hours and talk time of 8 hours, so does last a fair while :o)
Obviously it does come boxed with a mains charger and instruction booklet, which explains everything very easily and simply - giving you everything you need to know.
Like i said mine was in the sale in Argos and cost me £25.00 although £40.00 would have still been reasonable for a Phone of this specification.
In today's world I often feel when buying cheaper products you do actually get what you pay for and I would be lying if I didn't say that here. I believe it to be at the higher end of the market for budget phones and you do get good value, compared to other phones i have had or seen in the past.
So I would like to recommend this phone to you, if you only want it for the basic needs it has to offer. Otherwise you may be slightly disappointed and perhaps in your case would be worth forking out that little bit extra.
Okay just for all of you who want to know here is the list of specifications this phone has to offer or in other words the boring bit...

Hope you have enjoyed reading my review and I hope it may have slightly influenced your decision into buying one, if that is what you want.
Advantages: Inexpensive, small and simple. Disadvantages: Infuriatingly bad at simple tasks.
The motorola W220 is only my second motorola, and my first budget motorola.
Well, being a girl…
I chose a pink one. Yes, that's right, pink. However, it does come in other colours - silver and black. So I will start with the design.
The phone is a clamshell design, which has a slight resemblance to the much more expensive Motorola RAZR V3. However, it is much bulkier - although hardly large, it just doesn't have that extra cool slimness of its ... ...shiny inset area with the Motorola logo and spaces where three symbols can light up as necessary. The top one is a call symbol which tells you when your phone is ringing (as well as the more usual ring) in green and in yellow when you have a missed call. The symbol underneath is an envelope which lights up in blue when you have a text message and the final and bottom one is a battery which flashes when it is getting low on juice and lights up constantly ...

Advantages: Looks very good, very durable, battery lasts for a long time both for standby and talk time Disadvantages: Not many features, looks plain and simple
...it was. I found the Motorola W220 I saw that it is a flip phone, these type of phones are my favorite and the phone is very cheap it cost me £12. At a first glance online the phone did look very good and it has very good value for money considering other phones in the same price range. The phone arrived and is very impressive for a budget phone. For starters the phone looks very nice it does not feel like it has been made with cheap parts it feels ... ...on the top of the phone. The phone is light weight and does not have a brick feeling to it which phones for this price can sometimes have. The only complaint that I really have with the way that it looks is the screen is very small, it's smaller than you think however this does only take a little getting used to. I think my favorite thing about the phone is the mobile phone is the built in screen at the top of the phone because it flashes here when ...

Advantages: Price, appearance, size and intergrated FM radio Disadvantages: Screen size and quality, unable to download media files
I purchased the Motorola W220 approximately 4 months ago, to replace my previous Motorola V547, which had recently broken. Being someone who cannot go 10 minutes without a mobile and short of money at the time, I quickly decided upon the W220, that I would use purely on a temporary basis until a 'more suitable' replacement could be purchased. However, after 4 months I have yet to find reasonable justification to replace the phone, however as with ... ...you need to have the Motorola headphones with you). I have also found that the battery life on the phone is relatively good. The Motorola website states that it has a standby time upto 290 hours and talk time upto 8 hours, figures that I believe are not too far off the reality. This means it can comfortably run for a few days before being recharged.
However, for me perhaps the biggest drawback to this phone is the screen size and colour quality. ...

Advantages: Quality head and shoulders above the (budget) field Disadvantages: Too many irritating compromises
...you get the feeling that Motorola have been careful to downgrade every individual aspect of the phone to avoid it harming others in the range. I think that's the wrong way round. I mentioned the plastic volume rocker on the outside: well, that's a perfect example - the only jarring note of tacky quality in an otherwise crystal-clear exterior.
Good. Great, compared to some of the nasty and break-prone budget phones out there. And recommended, but ...

Advantages: Stylish, robust and has all basic functions plus FM radio Disadvantages: No camera, small buttons.
Bought two of these from the Carphone Warehouse about nine months ago where they were on offer - worked out at £25 each but I suppose these would now be classed as old models.
Firstly, if you are into gadgets that can do all and sundry then this phone would probably not be for you, I simply wanted a phone primarily to use for emergencies. It is not too bulky and very robust with the keys and screen protected by the flip up cover. This phone is ideal ... ...mobile phone. I have to admit that I've tried texting on it to impress my daughter and it has easy to follow the prompts even though I'm rubbish at it and still not past using one finger circling the keyboard for each letter. Simply raising or lowering the cover answers / ends the call. Not a huge choice on pre-programmed ringtones, but if you don't like them, volume control easy to adjust with a vibrate function for secrecy.
There are a minimal ...
