Advantages Great budget phone

Disadvantages Lack of instructions, few extra features

I bought a W377 after my old faithful Sony Ericsson packed in a while ago.

*****Specifications and Features *****

As you can see from the picture it is a flip opening mobile and quite stylish. The phone has an external mono icon display screen which has useful icons informing you of new messages, calls, and battery status. The internal TFT 65k colour screen is 128 x 160 pixels which provides clear and colourful display

Available in black (liquorice), grey and pink casing (see photographs).
The phone is similar in appearance to older models theW220 and the W375.

The handset weighs 95g and is 99 x 45 x 18.6mm; which I've found to be a good size when using.

On the front of the handset above the external screen there is a built in VGA camera with 4 x Zoom. The internal screen acts as a viewfinder when taking a photograph. Photos can then be stored on the phone (which has 10MB of memory), shared via MMS messaging or downloaded to a computer via USB cable or Bluetooth connectivity.
(L --> R)Black, silver and pink
Messaging- as you would expect with all phones these days the Motorola W377 comes with SMS text messaging, Enhanced messaging, Multimedia messaging and predictive text.

Sounds- You can listen to FM radio by using optional headphones with the W377, and it also comes preloaded with MP3 ringtones which can be personalised.

Entertainment- The W377 comes with preloaded games (inc. Tetris) which I can't really comment on as I never use my mobile to play games so I don't know how they compare to other games. The mobile also comes with WAP internet.

Organisation- tools include currency converter, personal mobile calendar, one-touch SMS and MMS messaging, Bluetooth wireless technology, hands-free speaker, zoom font capability, streamlined keypad, alarm clock and up to 500 phone book entries

Standby and Talk time- According to specification you should get 7.5 Hours talk time and 250 hours standby time, I have found this to be about right from my use of the phone.

*****Personal Opinion*****

I have found that this phone gives me everything I want from a phone, the photographs are nowhere near the standard they were on my old Sony Ericsson (RIP old friend); but I use my digital camera for any important photographs anyway.

The phone is incredibly stylish and has a great appearance. I have had a mobile from a young age and feel very comfortable finding my way around any phone; however I think the problem with going from a phone like a Sony Ericsson to a Motorola is that simple things like how the menu works just don't seem to make as much sense. I also noticed that you get very little information supplied with the phone; so for people less comfortable with "new-fangled technology" you might need to do a bit of explaining.

One problem I often have with mobiles is the ever-decreasing size of the keys, with my chubby man-sized hands my texts often end up reading like this "gsopj wogjp ogwgjpo?" This was no problem with the Motorola W377 thanks to its large buttons which are reasonably easy to see.

*****Summary*****

If you want a cheap and cheerful phone then the Motorola W377 could well be the phone for you; It is a great budget phone with no gimmicks.
I would have rated it higher had it come with better instruction manual, apart from that you get what you pay for. This is by no means a top of the range phone, but is simple and great for texts and calls.

One final thing to add is the volume whilst on calls; I do not have the best hearing and have often had problems hearing callers on other phones- but with the W377 I have had no problems, the volume can be adjusted but I do not even need it on the highest volume setting!
