Motorola T4502 Two-Way Radios

Advantages: Small, lightweight, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Uses 3 AAA batteries per radio, instead of a rechargable 'battery pack'.

WARNING! -- LONG REVIEW!! -- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! ~ Alternative title (that I wanted to use) ~ Motorola (from the makers of the V3 RAZR mobile phone) T4502 (Tiny4502???) 8-channel (or 8-frequency) PMR (Professional / Personal Mobile Radio). [It's too long for the box -- LoL!] Wow, what a great little two-way radio! I've had my Nectar Card for a good while and I am also a member of a survey company called "TNS" who award points for completing surveys and you can link your "TNS" account to your Nectar Card then get your TNS points automatically transferred into Nectar Points. Recently the Nectar website (Nectar.com) did a 'Summer of Rewards' promotion where a handful of electrical goods were on sale (!! HALF PRICE !!) for a certain amount of Nectar Points. I saw that they had a two-pack (well I'm sure they had many two ...

Review of Motorola Talkabout T4502 8-channel PMR

A quality robust 446 Radio from Motorola

Advantages: Robust, User Friendly, Good features
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive, no vibrate, expensive accessories

for a single T6222 with no accessories. Features This radio has the standard 8 PMR446 channels and 18 CTCSS Codes per channel giving 304 possible combinations. The codes allow the user to filter out unwanted traffic on the channel although they are NOT separate channels so its important to check the channel is free ? the red light will flash constant if in use or intermittently if free. Channel scan can be used to monitor for traffic on all channels if the code is set to ?0? or traffic using the same code if code is set to ?1-38?. If scanning all channels the user can reply as the radio will stop on the channel and detect the code automatically ? this is a feature I believe unique to Motorola. The only thing this radio lacks compared to the more expensive T6222 is the Vibrate motor, as well as being a larger physical size and having ...

Review of Motorola Talkabout T5512 8-channel PMR

Great for outdoor activities

Advantages: Easy to use, inexpensive, very useful, great for emergencies
Disadvantages: Better battery life would be welcome, as would improved range in hilly environments

I just spent a week using Talkr T5s whilst on a skiing holiday in France. They were used to stay in contact with my friends on the mountain, and also carried in case of emergency. Handset range is very much dependant on conditions. Whilst the 6km maximum range can be achived, in practice this was often greatly less if there is something large between the transmitter and reciever. Typically reception was good if my friends were on the same side of the mountain. However if they were in a different valley then we got no reception at all. The sub-channel system works well, and means that you have much more chance of finding a channel that no-one else is using. We used channel 7-13, which meant that we could only hear channel 7-13, and only people using either 7-13 or the whole 7 channel could listen in. Broadcast quality varies ...
