I have to write a review on this game. I LOVE IT. If your like me and fancy a challenge but don't mind getting a bit frustrated because someone just pushed you out the way to pip you to the post then this is a game for you. It is a whole load of fun.
I don't own a PS3 but my other half does and he doesn't get a look in with this game. I do love driving in real life but put me behind a wheel on screen and I am just vicious, well you have to be in this game no need to pussy foot around put your foot down and go.
~Game~
The object of the game is to win obviously and you can do this by any means possible. Shunt them out of the way or push them off a cliff (my favourite) either way there are no limits. You can cause absolute mayhem and trash every vehicle you come across. No pain no gain.
There are many different vehicles that you can drive mind on some levels you have to drive what they give you.
BIKES - there are a number of bikes to choose from and the further on in the game the more there is to choose from and there woman the ride the bikes too. I think you have to be quite good at the game to ride these as there are very sensitive and crash a whole lot more.
ATV's - Quads these are fun to drive a lot less sensitive then the bikes but just mind you don't get squished by the bigger vehicles.
Buggies - Great off roaders, they will go any where you tell them too.
Rally Cars - These are great for speed but can come a bit unstuck in really rough terrains, but still fun to drive. I always fancied myself as a rally driver.
Racing Trucks - Now we are getting to the big stuff which I love the bigger the better, these are good in rough terrain but very big and heavy.
Mudslingers - These are awesome huge tyres to take you through the muddiest and roughest terrains but lack on speed.
OK my all time favourite the BIG RIGS, don't mess with me when I am driving these. They are unstoppable crush anything that gets in the way, not so big on the speed but who cares when you can just drive over anything, nothing is going to stop me from winning and I have to say I do.
Ok about the tracks, there a whole load of tracks and each one is different some are in valleys some are high up. They may be very dusty or very muddy and sometimes it's hard to see because you have that much mud on the wind screen but after a while it does clear. You have to be very careful on some tracks when they are high up that you don't drive of the edge into a deep canyon. No two laps are the same either, tracks form from previous laps and the odd car or obstacle may be in the way that wasn't there before. But I think this just adds to make the game great fun. All tracks have different routes that you can take it all depends which vehicle you have, it is trial and error, to which part of the track suits your vehicle. There may jumps you have to make or bridges to cross barriers to break through you decide.
To gain access to different levels you have to gain certain positions on the tracks and then you will be granted tickets so you then have access to them. Also when you complete the tracks within the top 3 ranking that's when you are granted tickets to access more vehicles.
On the screen it tells you your race time, how many laps on that track there is and how many you have done, it also tell you your position in the race and shows you if you are using your power boost.
~Graphics~
I have found the graphics are absolutely awesome unreal really so life like, the vehicles look almost real and the tracks and scenery around the tracks do look real, which all adds to the very enjoyable game play.
You can see the tracks in the mud that have been made in previous laps and all are in great detail. The sun is another sometimes it's hard to see where you are going in the canyons because of the shadows, but again it all adds to the fun.
The motion of the vehicles is amazing and when they crash, they really crash, obliterated, wheels flying parts of you car flying off complete destruction.
~Sound~
Great quality sound turn it up to get the best effects, the engines sound awesome, not only that you have music playing as well if you want which goes so well with the game. There are loads of different tunes, such as Primal Scream, Elite Force, Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age to name a few.
You can go online but as of yet I have not so I cannot really comment on this part yet, but watch this space.
Using the wireless controller is so much better no cables to get tangled up in and you have 3 options for steering. You can either use the buttons to steer left and right and accelerate or the joysticks on the controller or if your like me and move the controller when you are driving round corners then use the motion sensitive controls, these are a real hoot, you may look like a right plonka but who cares, Tilt the controller to which ever way you want to go and it goes that way, its hard at first but you soon get the hang of it.
There are also other things like the handbrake normal break and the boost button and I can tell you, you don't half shift when you press it but don't be to dependable on it you might just get a surprise!!!!!
There is a wide selection of languages to choose from in the start up menu and you have a set up menu also where you can adjust the audio and controller settings.
There are extras where you can select different videos to browse through.
There is no need to keep saving your game as it does it automatically to the hard disk no need to panic if you which I have done plenty on the PS2, it is so annoying if you forget but know it isn't an issue.
The cost is about £30.00 not bad really
~My Verdict~
Absolutely fantastic I don't think I can complain about anything from game play to graphics to sound, it is a truly outstanding game. The meaner you are and the more aggressive you are the better, put the pedal to the medal. I expect i will be playing this game for a very long time even when everything is completed it is a game that you can keep going back to, as nothing is every the same. The more you play it the better you get and I just can't put it down I am addicted. I give it the BIG thumbs up.
Advantages: Exciting, lots of routes per course, contrasting vehicle types Disadvantages: Difficulty, no split-screen, night stages
...tackle these courses which sets Motorstorm out from the crowd. There are 7 main vehicle types; dirt bikes, ATVs, Buggies, rally cars, racing trucks, mud-pluggers and big rigs, each with their own specific attributes. It's these attributes which determine the best route to take through each of the courses. Bikes love tight short-cuts, ramps and dusty tracks, but are vulnerable to being knocked over by the bigger vehicles and hate mud. On the other ... ...of the pack.
Graphically, Motorstorm is impressive. Fully deformable mud means that every lap has a different appearance and feel as all of the 15 vehicles on the track eat away at the surface. The vehicles are highly detailed, getting battered and splattered throughout each race while impressive crash physics which send body panels, wheels and drivers into the air.
Motorstorm is loud. From the crashes and slams on the course to the impressive ...

...Gameplay
The gameplay on Motorstorm is very solid! Everything feels just like it should do! And all the different cars are brilliantly varied in how each one feels!
There are six different types of vehicles you can choose to drive. You can race Bikes, Buggies, Big Rigs, Mud Pluggers, Rally Cars and ATV's. Each one has advantages and disadvantages, and you should choose which vehicle to use depending on which type of track you are racing on.

The online with Motorstorm is very enjoyable and easy, (well racing isn't so easy, because there really are some pros out there, but setting it up is easy)!
You select Online from the main menu, you select which region you are from, and select if you agree to the terms and conditions.
After this you are taken to the lobby. Here, you decide whether you want to create or join a game, select game settings, and if any of your buddies are online ...

Advantages: Amazing graphics, simple gameplay and wide range of vehicles. Disadvantages: Can be frustrating, not many tracks.
...PS3, most people remarked that Motorstorm was the most eyecatching title. The free roaming environments, amazing graphics and complete destroyabilty of much of the environment had me imagining a next-gen lovechild of Destruction Derby and Burnout.
Motorstorm is based around a desert festival which celebrates all things rock and roll and petrol-driven. All the tracks are in the desert, but they can happen during any time of the day or night, and ... ...bouncing along jagged cliff edges. The premise is simple enough - pick a vehicle, race it, and finish in the top 3 to move onto the next race.
The first thing to notice and like is the wide range of vehicles at your disposal. There are 7 categories - bikes, ATVs, mud pluggers, buggies, rally cars, trucks and big rigs. The smaller vehicles are quick and agile, but remarkably flimsy. However, you can punch out anybody else you pass on an ATV or bike. ...

Advantages: A Great Choice of Vehicles, Online Play Disadvantages: No Replay Mode, Load Times Slow
Motorstorm is one of the flagship games that Sony were counting on when the Playstation 3 launched in late March, but now that we have it and have played it, what do we think? Does it live up to all the hype and are the graphics as good as they were made out to be?
One of the most spectacular things about Motorstorm are the crashes, it seems to me that the developer has studied hours of footage of car's crashing and exploding such is the detail ... ...mode is based around The Motorstorm Festival, each event (which are called tickets) is spread across four difficulty levels with each one having up to four races, only three are available to begin with though, which means that you will have to unlock the rest by finishing in the top three to earn respect points.
Something that makes Motorstorm stand out from the crowd is the amount of vehicles that there are to choose from with a choice of Bikes, ...

Advantages: Fantastically addictive, enjoyable gameplay; astounding graphics; great crashes; always fun Disadvantages: Poor soundtrack; high difficulty; no 2 player; tacked-on online; could have been even better
A lot was made of Motorstorm in the run up to the release of the PS3. It looked incredible, especially for a laucnh title. It was one of the first games to use a fully fledged Havok physics system. It responded to your actions in clever, realistic ways. Almost inevitably, a lot of the weight of the PS3's initial success was placed on it's shoulders.
A couple of years on, and a sequel has been released, while developers across the globe have made ... ...a word - absolutely.
Motorstorm is an off-road racing game. It allows you to choose your vehicle from several types, ranging from nimble motorbikes and ATVs to middle of the range racing trucks to speedy rally cars to immense Big Rigs. You progress by winning events, or tickets, which get progressively harder. The premise is simple, but very well executed.
The brutal off-road racing is innovative, fresh and never seems to get old. The game is perpetually ...

I bought a PS3 with the above offer and I am very happy with it. This is actually my second one as I bought this as a gift for my sis but playing for 2-3 times before its gone!!! The first one was obviously much costly than this.

It has ...
Advantages: Excellent multimedia package ahead of its time Disadvantages: Backward compatability probs, and some minor glitches
a RAM reliant game and requires some data to be loaded on the hard drive of the PS3 to run, but after all it is a 360 game and was built for the hardware, so the PS3 is restricted to how the software is coded. It will be a while before we actually see the benefits of the PS3's intense architecture but I am sure when we do see it, it will be most impressive. Gran Turismo HD and MotorStorm are two such games that are PS3 specific and are very impressive looking and running indeed and hint of what the PS3 can do that the 360 would struggle with, however even on the HDTV it is still not quite breath taking, but it is sure as hell close. Talking of HDTV, the PS3 also benefits from HDMI connectivity and has some superb sound processing technology up to 7.1 channels, again another feature to secure the future.
Some of the gripes I have ...
In the game, players will descend upon the MotorStorm Festival, a celebration of the alternative and extreme offroad racing culture. Throwing caution to the wind, players will take on a variety of racing fanatics and battle through chaotic, action-packed tracks to try and become the Festival champ.
Capitalizing on its pedigree in offroad racing, Evolution Studios has created a true next-generation gameplay experience that features smarter artificial intelligence (AI), real-time track deformation, fully destructible vehicles and environments, and stunningly detailed scenery. Tapping into the power of the PlayStation 3, MotorStorm will showcase cinematic effects such as motion blur, depth-of-field, and Hollywood-style 'crash cams' that replay spectacular crash sequences during a race.
Features
Attacking and Offensive Driving - Players must not only try to win the race but survive against the other racers. Combat-like racing takes center stage as the vehicles are the weapons.
Stunning Environments - MotorStorm features amazing scenic environments that capture some of Americas most recognizable desert landmarks with wide-open plains, harrowing cliff edges, and tight canyon sections.
Cutting-Edge Artificial Intelligence - The A.I. will be able to analyze the race and surroundings and react in the most realistic manner possible. Not only will the competition try to win the race at all costs, but the A.I. will react to situations realistically, such as locating the best routes and changing the level of driving aggression based on player actions.
Real-time Track Deformation - Players will never experience the same track twice as each vehicle will carve up the track in varying depths, making navigation of each lap different than the last.
Real-time Audio Manipulation - An entirely new in-game music experience where echo and reverb are filtered in, delivering a unique 'live' music experience during each race.
