Advantages: A sound investment Disadvantages: The initial cost
Personalised Car Registrations from the DVLA
It is said that a man views his car as an extension of himself, but for a woman a car is just a house on wheels, something she can furnish and lavish gifts on. If this is true, it occurred to me that when shopping for my wife this Christmas I should include something for her car - along with the perfume, the earrings and the Black Magic, of course.
Alloy wheels and sun shades, matching seat covers, car mats and more, she has the lot. The one thing she hasn't got is that ultimate in car accessories - her very own personalised numberplate.
---But isn't that expensive?---
That all depends on where you shop and what you want on the plate. A prefix style registration - that is, one with a year letter indicator followed by a number, a space and three letters - is one of the cheapest you can ...
Advantages: all of sides one and two Disadvantages: some of sides three and four
seconds long, a fairly slow but stately Middle East-meets hard rock number with epic travelogue lyrics. The band would attempt to replicate this track on all of their next albums, but never matched the sheer towering sound of this one. That old rascal Jimmy Page reworked the rythym track for this on his collaboration with Puff Daddy, or P Diddy, or whatever he's called these days, for 1998's "Come With Me" from the Godzilla soundtrack.
Well that's sides one and two covered, as we over 30s say. If the album was left at that it would be the greatest rock record ever made. Sides three and four have their brilliant moments too, but a couple of tracks are a bit of a let down.
IN THE LIGHT
Following on in the same vein as "Kashmir" but without the eastern influences, another epic piece of music (8 mins 46 secs) that starts slowly ...
Advantages: Super bright, very white lamps with excellent beam. Disadvantages: Rear lamp uses batteries a bit quicker
I bought these from Halfords (£34.99) and though they were not cheap (list price is over £50.00) they were certainly worth it.
The front lamp is amazing! main beam/dipped beam and flashing. It is a pure white light and has a superb beam almost like a car headlamp! Battery life, 4 x AA (so far - 3 months old now) is very good I am still on the first set of batteries in the front lamp with occasional use.
The rear light is also very bright, main and flashing mode. Battery life on this is a lot less, 2 x AAA and I replace these regularly, but I use rechargables so they may go flat faster than original batteries.
Overall, though they are expensive lights to buy, they are worth every penny, and are very easy on batteries compared to old style bulbs or the newer halogens, so will save you money there in the end. I would not bother ...
