...The digitech midi vocalist is a nice little piece of kit. It is used for creating vocal harmonies while singing. It can generate up to 4 extra harmonies while you sing. It is very easy to use and the midi control is great. (vocoder mode)You can play a part on a keyboard and when you sing, the keyboard part creates the notes for the harmony. This was the most useful feature of the unit for me. It is a 1U rack mount unit and comes with the rack fittings, and power supply. It has a stereo output which automatically pans the harmonised voices. The microphone can be plugged in the front XLR jack or in the rear with a normal quarter inch jack. I bought the midi vocalist and a small effects unit to emulate ENYA type voices. It’s really good. I would recommend the unit to any vocalist as it “beefs up” your vocal line. The user...

Advantages: well made and easy to use Disadvantages: positioning of front and back ports can get cluttered
...Amongst audio interfaces this is unique for having both audio/midi ports as well as the light-up top knob and buttons. These can be asisgned to functions in a wide range of audio DAWs from Apple's Garageband to Logic and Cubase. The unit is simple to install and use although I did have to download the latest drivers for it to be recognised on a USB port. With two audio inputs, guitar and a microphone or other instruments can be quickly setup. The back plate includes MIDI in and out ports to complete the connectivity. Once connected it immediately offers high-end audio clarity and 3ms latency which ensures you hear straightaway the music you're playing. Although this unit is now a few years old, its sturdy construction and versatility make it a better option than the newer Guitar Rig Sessions 3 XE device....

Advantages: Sounds great. Very simple menu interface. Very cheap. Disadvantages: No midi thru.
...This was my first midi synthesizer. It has a great warm sound produced by digitally controlled analog oscillators. It can add a great edge to your music. I like to hook up a midi cable to another keyboard that plays a pattern through this one. It syncs up the joystick with the BPM of whatever pattern is playing. If your just using it to play leads, not hooked up to another device, you can hook up the midi in back to the midi out, and it doubles the notes without using up your polyphony! It sounds fat!!! I had problems with the built in sequencer being triggered by other devices in my chain, so I just entered step recording mode, and either saved, or played one rest then saved (Can't remember) And that problem has been gone ever since. This was the cheapest of all the vintage midi synths I've bought ($110.00 with free shipping on Ebay)
I...

I bought this for my own use at home.
It was really quite easy to set up. I was quite impressed as the manual was all in enlish, unlike some products where you have to flick through all the different languages to find the english instructions!! The more
