Advantages: Spacious, economical fuel consumption, looks good Disadvantages: High repair and maintenance bills, unreliable, doesn't look so good on the back of a tow truck!
Management warning symbol lighting up for no apparant reason.
- Battery warning symbol lighting up for no apparant reason. (Battery replaced about 6 months earlier.)
All of the last electrical faults were looked at by a Citroen garage a few months' back and they run a diagnostic check on the car (for which I had to pay another bill for) only for it to come back clear and the mechanic just said 'it could be anything or nothing.' He claimed to have cleaned some pipe or other which he felt should resolve the problem but within the space of a fortnight the same warning lights were flashing up left, right and centre again! Their only real recommendation was that I consider buying a new Citroen! I don't think so, somehow! I'd rather throw my money down the drain (actually, that is pretty much what I have been doing with my C3.)
So, at long ...

Advantages: Long distance ride comfort Disadvantages: Not so hot on corners, flimsy interior build
apologists for fast cars mean when they rabbit on about ?enough power to accelerate out of trouble?.
Where the C3 really scores is in the field of ride comfort. I?ve already touched on the comparatively low interior noise level, and to continue the illusion that you?re driving something much more swish, the car rides in straight lines beautifully. Given my reservations of its ability when loaded and with the ?aircon? running, it makes an excellent motorway cruiser (in Britain in winter perhaps!).
I can?t be too specific about fuel consumption, after all, who checks this with a holiday hire car? However, I feel that we?ve achieved at least the equivalent of 40+ to the gallon, even with the ?life support? systems fully running. Incidentally, the number four setting on the blower fan is deafening and can lead the driver into distraction ...

Took delivery of a new C3 Hdi LX Desire (diesel) in January, no faults on delivery, and 7000 miles later no faults have developed. It's been back to the dealer once for the first service.
It used a little oil until it had coverd 2000 miles but now seems to use none.
The fuel economy is nothing short of amazing, it's fitted with a display on the dash which gives fuel consumption, and that has never dropped below 60mpg. Most of the time it's around 65mpg, and I have seen 70mpg. It has a decent size fuel tank, should have a range of about 600miles.
The performance I've found to be quite good, and better than one would expect from a 1400cc diesel. This little diesel engine is the same one that's fitted in the Fiesta, the Peugeot 206, and the Maxda 2. For some reason it's slighty more economical in the C3, probably down to the tyres ...
