Eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day as recommended seems totally impossible in our increasing busy lifestyles. The perfect healthy solution is the juicer.
You can always make extra and freeze it. Unlike cooking, when you freeze 'live' produce only 5 per cent of the enzymes are lost..
The Moulinex Master Plus is quite bulky, if your kitchen is small get rid of your food destroyer (the microwave) replace it with the juicer your health will improve. Do not store it in the cupboards, unless you have easy access to your juicer you will forget to use it. But if you prefer a doughnut it's entirely your choice!
For soft juicy fruit and vegetables (melon, watermelon and tomatoes) use speed 1 - for hard fruit and vegetables like carrots, apples, use speed 2. Remove pips beforehand. Carrots, celery stalks etc can be put whole but apples have to be cut in quarters as opening is not wide enough for entire fruit.
Fresh juice tastes fabulous. If you keep your fruit in the fridge your juice will be nice and cold. You can always add ice.
By adding spices to your vegetable juice you will make it more interesting : turmeric, cayenne pepper, ginger, parsley etc. are excellent. Adding nuts, almonds etc... to your fruit juices will give you calcium and extra vitamins.
Make your fruit juice with half mineral water so that way there is no danger of loading your bloodstream with too much natural sugar (if you have a weight or sugar problem).
My favourites at present (it's early days) celery- carrot- cucumber-courgette with turmeric, cayenne and parsley and for the fruitty one apples-kiwi-seedless white grapes together with cinnamon. Really yummy.
You do not need a tooth brush to clean this juicer as it is extremely easy to rinse. An ordinary washing up brush will do the job or you can put it in the dishwasher.
