I got this for Xmas, and it's definitely the best present I got! Technically I'm on my second one because one of the plastic bits that attaches the blade to the jug broke, meaning that when I mixed things it tended to drip out of the bottom! Thankfully argos changed this for me and I've not had a problem with it. This could be a design/manufacturing fault, or it could be that (as it was the first time I used it) I didn't put it together properly - the new one works fine.

I choose this one (yes, I get to choose my own xmas presents!, well only one or two of them) becasue I didn't want one that has a tap as they're a pain to clean. This one's easy - twist the top and back bit (on mine it's grey for some reason,in the pic) and it comes off from the base, twist the blade attachment (in side the black bit) and this comes off, making an easy clean blender!

The blender has 2 speeds, one for mixing juices and another for actual blending. There's also the ice crusher feature (yet to use as it's too cold for ice drinks in my flat at the moment!). The lid has a measuring cup (I think it's up to 100-200 ml, but I'm more of a "that's about right" so I doubt I'll ever use it!), and the jug itself has a 1.25l capacity.

I've not had a problem with detaching the jug from the base, I tend to twist it via the handle on the jug so I don't have any grippage issues, and would say this is a worthy investment for the budding smoothie connaisseur, like me!

I have found that the odd smoothy is a bit lumpy, but I'm not sure whether is due to me giving it too much to blend at once (I think the tip is, when using solids, don't out the whole lot in at once, do it bit by bit!) as some are lumpy and some are smooth.

Another downside is that it didn't come with any recipes for smoothies or cocktails, but I s'pose the answer to this is "ah, the wonders of the internet search engine!"

I suspect there are better blenders out there, but his one is perfect for me - someone who wants to make lots of smoothies and cocktails. I'm thinking that I could also get into soups.......

I've been asked to add a bit on cleaning and I have to say this thing is peas easy to clean (excuse my vegetarian language!). The jug twists off, the lid simply lifts off (with the measuring thimble thing twisting out of the lid), and the blade bit twists and detaches from the glass jug. The only problem is you might cut yourself on the blade while washing it, but I think that's probably a problem with any blender! (I'm yet to do that myself though!).
