...home this summer i saw mount gay rum and was recommended it by a friend so bought a bottle from a local wine store for about £16 which even on my budget was reasonable.

My bottle was a dark rum called the mount gay rum eclipse range and had 43% percent with 86 proof. The coulour of th rum was very enticing as it had a beuatiful golden almost caramel complexion. Also it was packaged well with a design which included the island of barbados and an old english style writing on the package which added to the class.
Now to my favourite part of actually trying it! i first had it straight which i do not enjoy as much but did it to get a sense of the taste. It did taste very strong as it had a certain kick about it but did have some flavour to it which was almost fruity and also had a smokey aroma which is aprently down to it being storred in kentucky oak barrels. Where i really did enjoy this drink was with a mixer of coke, this really did enhance the fruity flavour and has become a top drink of mine.
So if you see this rum i highly recommend buying it as when i drink it i can alomst imagine sitting on a beach in barbados and of course it is a high quality spirit.
Advantages: Versatile Disadvantages: none in my opinion
have tried lots of different rums through out my life time and I must confess when I was in Barbados I got to love Mountgayerum, but that was there, with all of that beautiful sea and sun.
When I’m over here I’ll stick with Lamb’s.
I have never had any complaints about this brand of rum but, if you have any questions or complaints the address to contact is:

If you don’t want to drink rum, you can always use it as a preservative like they did with Nelson. He died on his ship during the famous Battle of Trafalgar and his body was preserved in a cask of his favorite rum, until it was time for his burial.
Happy drinking folks ;o) BUT WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. ...
