Advantages: easy to use and reliable Disadvantages: none
...I have been a keen gardener since I was 8 years old always helping in the garden. So when I left school I studied horticulture and went on to run my own business. Looking around for lawn mowers I found that the mountfield range was the most suitable.
Mountfield do a good petrol engine mower range so no electric cable to limit distance.
With petrol it is safer to use if the grass is damp.
I have used mountfield for the last 15 years and I would not change. I have tried others but they all seam to be at a different standard.
All my customers are happy with the lawns when I finished them as it always leaves a nice even cut.
The height is easy to adjust and the mower itself is easy to maintain.
I also find mountfield to be one of the most reliable makes on the market....

Advantages: No electric leads, & you don't have to push! Disadvantages: Noise.
...steel, which is then powder coated. This should keep the rust at bay for many years to come.
Like other mowers in this class, there is no electric start, you need to pull the recoil starter, which is easy enough.
As for safety, there is a bar that needs to be kept held at all times, if you release this then the machine stops.
Well, there you have it, buy this one or go for something cheaper, the choice is yours. All I would say is that I have used one of these for years, and I recommend them.

Advantages: Powerful, good wide cut Disadvantages: Heavy and takes an age to warm up
...If you have read my review of the Hayter Hunter mower you will know I have a big garden. To keep the extensive grass area tidy I have three mowers. I have a Westwood sit and ride tractor which I will review at a later date, my Hayter and my recent purchase a Mountfield M6 power driven electric start mower.
I saw the Mountfield in a local power mower shop. It had been reduced from £900 to £560 and given the specification of the mower this seemed a bargain. It has a useful 21 inch cut and uses a powerful Briggs and Stratton OHV engine. The mower can be started using the key start electric ignition but the first thing I learned was that from cold you always need the cable start. It seems the battery is just not capable of holding enough power to get the engine motoring. Starting then is 3 quick presses on the bulb to shoot fuel...
