Zovirax ftw
Advantages: It works, and fast too. Very portable Disadvantages: Dried skin, pricey, small tube
Zovirax cream probably the leading brand in treating cold sores. Its easily applicable and dries up quickly without leaving the skin sticky. You can really notice the difference with this cream although I'm not sure about how fast the cream works when your blisters are at its scab stage. Its best to use it when you feel that unpleasant tingle or burning sensation. The cream says its best to use it 5 times a day for 5 days. Bad thing is that its only ...

Superb at getting rid of mouth ulcers
Advantages: reduced amount of throat infection Disadvantages: none of note
...infection. I now use the oraldene instead and after a few days the throat infections resolve themselves. I also try and use the mouth wash as soon as I recognise the symptoms starting and I do find that the number of infections has decresead significantly. I find the product reasonable priced compared to other products on the markets and would certainly recommend it to friends and family. ...

Iglu - It really does stay put - great new product to the market!
Advantages: Stays put and does protect the ulcer from irritation . Easy to apply . Disadvantages: Does bond lips together when you are asleep if you put too much on !
I suffer every month from mouth ulcers...one of the joys of being a women! I have tried everything to ease the pain and reduce inflammation. Bonjela tastes great, but it lasts all of a few seconds, Anbesol both the cream and the liquid is the same...there are loads out there to try. I bought Iglu from Tesco the other night to give it a try after seeing the adverts on TV. It is best to use a cotton bud to apply it and not put too much on, but it does ... ...irritation and also inflammation. It doesn't taste much, slightly minty. It kind of sets from being a paste to forming a barrier over the ulcer and stays there for a while, depending on whether you eat or drink. This will reduce the time it holds for. It is good to put it on before you go to bed, as it is still there sometimes in the morning when you wake up. Although it has bonded my lips together a few times in the night!! But at least that displays ...

Hurts like hell but Anbesol rules
Advantages: Works like a treat, Disadvantages: Hurts when first applied, bottle is too small
...to do with your mouth. Anbesol was recommended to me by a friend after I moaned about mouth ulcers (horrible I know but everyone gets them) and I was a little bit wary of using it as it looks more like a of poison than a onitment in the little glass bottle it comes in. The anbesol is priced around £3 in most pharmacies and is well worthy of the investment. Upon opening the bottle the anbesol does not smell the nicest of products and I guess thats ... ...with my finger/cotton bud it absolutely stings like hell on the ulcer so much so you often want to swill your mouth out with water. The liquid numbs the pain of the ulcer for hours and within two days of use, my ulcer that was there for ages had gone. Now I dont hesitate to reach for the little bottle that will cause so much pain. Well worth grinning and bearing the pain. Top Notch ...

Compeed Definitely speeds up healing! (also handy tip..)
Advantages: Reduces pain, doesn't allow scabs to form, heals quicker Disadvantages: Not completely invisible
...have tried everything! I think Compeed is the best cold sore cure out there! Creams tend to dry up the sore too much and I still have a scabby unsightly lip for a week to 12 days. But these, stop the sore swelling, stop ANY redness, and NO scab ever appears. The only thing is you have to remember to put them on all the time. And you do get a sort of white look to the sore - so not completely invisible - but any cold sore sufferer will know this is ... ...- relatively pain free - unless you jab them. As there is no scab, doesn't get dry or crack or get painful. As other reviews say - you have to be careful on how you stick them on. If they go on the inside of your mouth - they lift off quite easily. And if you have thin lips like me - its relatively easy to do. HANDY TIP! I cut them in half using some sterilised (well - run under boiling water) small scissors, and keep one half in the packet for the ...
