The story starts by introducing us to Mr Big and telling us about how big he is and how everywhere he goes people always saw him as big and scary, as people found him scary they always ran away from him and so Mr Big was feeling very small inside.
Mr Big would go out to the café but everyone ... ...got to see the real Mr Big only what they thought he was like. But one day when Mr Big was out he noticed a piano sitting in a shop window and he thought it looked all alone like he was so he decided to buy it. Mr Big took the piano home and soon sat and thought about all the things which made him sad and started to play. The music he was playing soon reached the outside and people started to wonder who was playing and making the music.

Well two weeks into starting school my middle son was excited as he got to bring his first reading book home but the following day he was more excited as he got another book bag which had a few reading books in for him to keep! Naturally when we got through the door we had to sit and read them together.
The cover of this book s red and has a picture of a big gorilla on the left hand side wearing a suit and the title on the right hand side in nice big bright multicoloured letters. The back cover of the book has a blue background and a picture of Mr Big and a small monkey standing next to each other. There is also a few words about the story.

Mr Big would go out to the café but everyone left and when he got on the bus all the other passengers would get off. No one ever got to see the real Mr Big only what they thought he was like. But one day when Mr Big was out he noticed a piano sitting in a shop window and he thought it looked all alone like he was so he decided to buy it. Mr Big took the piano home and soon sat and thought about all the things which made him sad and started to play. Just what would people make of the music when they found out it was coming from Mr Big and would it mean the end of him being lonely?
This really is a lovely book which Jacob loves. He was attracted to the front cover as he does like animals and the other factor was the nice bright colours. Upon opening the book the pages are filled with lovely fun pictures which really do help to tell the story. The illustrations are very fun and are all nice and colourful which I find helps to keep children interest and attention.
I found that the story was very simple to read and the fact that the text is in a good sized black ink made them all stand out from the pictures. I do like the big text as it means that my eldest can read this book quite easily on his own. Despite the two year age gap between Jacob and his big brother they both found this book interesting and loved the story. The story did have a nice moral which I enjoyed as there was a point to reading it and it was not just a silly story.
The book is a good size and comes in a paper back edition. The pages are not easily ripped by my youngest though as they are quite thick and have a slight gloss finish. The story is not too long and when I am the one reading it we can finish the book in less than 10 minutes but this is depending on how long we spend looking at the pictures and talking about them. My eldest can and does read this independently and this usually takes him about 20minutes as he too likes to look at the detail in the pictures.
As I said at the beginning we did get this book free in a school book bag but it is available to buy on Amazon for just £4.49 which I feel is a good price for such an interesting and fun book. The book was written by Ed Vere and was published by Puffin. There are another two book which are similar to this, Banana! And The Getaway and I will definitely be looking out for these for Christmas.
Overall I do recommend this book for children aged between 5 and 8 as it is engaging and fun with lovely bright pictures to help keep their attention.
Mr Big is strong, Mr Big is tough, Mr Big is ...well ...big! He has just one small problem - because of the way he looks he just can't get people to stick around.
