Mr Forgetful is number 14 in the Mr Men collection. He is a round shaped man and is a dark blue colour. He wears a little red hat.

The cover of the book is white and has a picture of Mr Forgetful and the title in black lettering above this. The back cover of the book is also white and has small pictures showing the other characters in the collection.

THE STORY

The book starts by telling us that it is a beautiful summer morning and Mr Forgetful is fast asleep in his home, Forget-me-not Cottage. He was having a nice dream. The sun shines through the window and wakes Mr Forgetful, he then tries to remember what he was dreaming about. Mr Forgetful could not remember what his dream was as he always forgets and never ever remembers anything.

Mr Forgetful gets up and goes to have a wash but he has forgotten where the bathroom is and ends up going into the wardrobe. He eventually has a wash and brushes his teeth and then goes downstairs to have his breakfast. He ends up burning his toast as he forgot that he was cooking it. His egg ends up hard boiled as he forgets about nit but he had burnt toast and hardboiled eggs every day for breakfast as he always forgot when he was cooking.

As it was a lovely day Mr Forgetful decided to go for a walk into town to buy a stamp for a letter he had written a few weeks ago but had forgotten about. Would he be able to remember where the town is and would he remember that he had gone to buy a stamp or would he forget all about this as usual?

MY OPINION

This is a very funny book in the collection. My boys enjoy listening to the story and hearing how Mr Forgetful forgets everything. The story has been written in nice simple words so even smaller children are able to understand the story and the nice bright illustrations throughout the book also help to keep children involved in the book.

The book has been laid out in a nice simple way with the writing on plain white pages on the left hand side of the book and the illustrations on the right hand side. The writing throughout the book is quite small so younger and new readers may be discouraged from reading the book independently but with some encouragement my eldest is now doing very well reading them.

The book is only short so it can be read in just a few minutes so it is an ideal bedtime book but you can make the reading time longer by talking to your children about what they can see in the illustrations.

INFO

The book was written by Roger Hargreaves and published by Egmont UK Limited. The retail price for the book is £1.99 but they can be bought in Wilkinson's and small book shops for £1.49. There are a total of 46 characters each having their own book in the collection and Mr Forgetful is number 14.

I am reviewing the paperback edition of this book and not the audio as Ciao have listed it.
