Advantages: okay but dry for me - for £1 you can't complain though! Disadvantages: not one I'd buy again

Having been far too weak willed I succumbed and bought a pack after all they were only £1.. Damn you Mr Kipling!
The Product~ I am not a huge lover of cakes and sweets so don't often buy them as my weakness is chocolate (Mmmm...), but these looked nice so decided to try one with a cup of tea on my return home.
The slices are mini cakes and are baked with sultanas and currants - so far so good. They have large sugar crystals on the top which didn't look too appealing but I'd bought them so was going to eat them anyway!
Price and packaging~ As mentioned above these were a very purse friendly £1 for six slices which is very reasonable. They come in 3 twin packed little trays which I like as it keeps the cakes fresher for longer, making them ideal for keeping in your bag for a sugar rush or for a sneaky treat in your packed lunch.
The trays are covered in a see through plastic making the cakes visable, and these are packaged in a recyclable oblong box.
On the front of the box is the famous Mr Kipling logo and a picture of 2 of the country slices looking very tempting.
The taste test~ On unwrapping one of the slices and taking a bite I was expecting a moist sort of cake..what I was met with was the opposite.
The slice was fairly dry in my opinion and though it was packed with sultanas and currants as promised it didn't do anything for me. The thing that I found put me off the most was indeed the sugar crystals on the top. They didn't look too nice on the picture and actually eating them was not a nice experience, especially for my poor teeth.
My opinion~ As a rule Mr Kipling products can't really do much wrong but I am not sold when it comes to these. Okay I only paid £1 for a pack but that's one of the only positive things I can really say about them. It does say there they are made with a hint of spice and though there was a faint citrus aroma it wasn't very evident on eating and the cake tasted a little bland to me.
However that's just my opinion and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who love these but I'm not one of them I'm afraid!
Miscellaneous~
Each slice (32g) contains 123 cals.
They are suitable for vegetarians
May contain Nut Traces
Contains Gluten, Egg, Milk and Soya
The cakes were too dry for me and I won't buy these again.
Advantages: They are delicious - tasty and moist Disadvantages: Too moorish!
...of the individual slices. The Mr. Kipling logo is on the front and sides in white lettering and we are informed that these are 'exceedingly good' - we'll see. The box contains 6 individual slices, these are in pairs in little plastic containers which are individually wrapped (keeps them fresher for longer in you have a household where they are likely to be hanging around). The box also tells us all the nutritional information, but more about that ... ...describes these as 'Delicately spiced cakes, baked with currants and sultanas and topped with nibs of sugar'.
Well the kettle is boiling as I take one of the individual packets out of the box, the wrapping is easily removed and I am greeted with two golden brown slices topped with little crystals of white sugar (guess those are the nibs!). Each slice measures approximately 2.5 inches long, 1 inch wide and .5 inch deep. The sponge itself is a very ...

Advantages: Good packaging, keeps cakes moist for longer Disadvantages: Not much fruit, tiny
As anybody who owns a TV will know, it is often claimed that Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes. This claim is also extended to the packaging on any Mr Kipling products.
Well, I have to say that overall I have to agree with this statement, having just devoured a gorgeous Mr Kipling lemon cake, however when it comes to Country Slices I just can't agree.
Its been many years since I had eaten a Country Slice. To me they conjured up memories of ... ...they were my cake of choice. My grandma died when I was 6/7 and so no more Country Slices passed my lips...until just before christmas that is.
Whilst browsing the tesco website as I placed my usual monthly grocery shopping order I saw that Mr Kipling cakes etc were on special offers, of 2 for £2 or 2 for £1.50, depending on the cakes you chose. Having had very good memories of Country Slices I promptly added them to my basket and waited for my ...
