~~EAT ME/KEEP ME~~
There are 6 angel slices in a red rectangular box.
The On the front of the packet is a clear cellophane window so you can see exactly what you're getting for your money.
Slices are wrapped in pairs, placed inside white plastic trays in a clear plastic cellophane wrap. Wrapping the cakes in pairs ensures that having one slice does not expose all the slices to air, which would lower the shelf-life considerably and dry out the product. This method of wrapping makes the slices an excellent addition to packed lunches or as snacks in general.
However, the packaging waste is substantial: one box of six slices leaves a cardboard box, three plastic trays and a lot of plastic wrapping.
The trays are durable and with a little imagination could be used for storing small items such as spare AAA batteries, screws, stamps or paperclips, for example. The rest is suitable for recycling.
~~WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET~~
The cakes are small slices of rectangular sponge pieces [3x3x7cm]: each slice is made up of two sponge layers: the lower layer is pink and the top is yellow. Sandwiched between them is a thinly spread vanilla flavour "cream" filling.
The top layer is decorated with white icing and 'just-drizzled' pink stripes are diagonally lined on top.
~~MMMM~~
Each cake is soft and moist and taste absolutely delicious: they really do 'melt-in-the-mouth'.
The 'pink' sponge part tastes slightly like a strawberry sponge cake and the 'yellow' layer tastes like a normal Victoria sponge cake - the texture of both is very light (but not crumbly).
The filling is minimal - so no overspill when biting into the cake. It's light and fluffy and gives a vanilla tang to the two differently flavoured sponge parts.
Minus the icing (which is very sugary, obviously) the sponge parts and the filling are not too sweet.

~~AT THE CHECKOUT~~ A box costs £1.19 from Sainsburys: so it's worth checking different supermarkets (if time allows - or when you're next shopping online) for any special offers or competitive prices.
Personally, I'm not a lover of sugar (much prefer savoury any day!), so I wouldn't say I'd eat these often: but I do like the taste and texture and would definitely have a slice again.
From comments that my in-laws and sweet-toothed friends have made, anyone who likes a donut, apple pie, brownie, almond slice, swiss roll or similar delectable edible will love Mr Kipling's Angel Slices: so try them out and see what you think! :)
Advantages: Melt-in-the-mouth yumminess Disadvantages: Rather pink, too many calories
Must... stop... writing top tens!!
Ah, that's better :)
Now - what do you mean it's not my birthday? Hurumph. Well, okay, I do still have a few weeks to go, but that doesn't mean I can't start early with the cake. Ahem. Bugger the diet.
Actually, it wasn't my own birthday that introduced me to (yet another) of Mr Kipling's range of cakes. They're exceedingly good, don't you know, although the man does seem to have a nasty habit of drowning small ... ...advertising.
Sorry, where was I? Birthdays: it was my gran's 80th this week, and unfortunately that meant I had to spend time with some relatives *shudder*. Worse, we ended up with a whole pile of them back at our house, scoffing our food! I don't know if you've ever noticed, but guests have a nasty habit of eating all the cake and leaving you with piles of sarnies and salad. Well, we got round that this time, as someone forgot to put half the cakes ...

Yum, I like my cakes. Although cakes are very naughty and most of the ones that I eat are full of fat and sugar, we do occasionally buy some cakes at our house. We have to make sure that they are the right ones though, the ones that make you go mmmmmmmm and want to eat the entire pack. Well on this occasion we bought Mr Kipling’s (Exceedingly Good) Angel slices.
~~THE PACKET~~
The angle slices come in a six pack and are in a red, long rectangle ... ...the colour does change to two-tone in places, which is around the ‘Mr Kipling, Exceedingly Good’ signs where it tones down into a orange colour. Anyway enough about the colour, also on the front of the packet there is a small window which you can see the cakes through, next to this is like a piece of fondant icing which says ‘6 angel slices’ on it. There are pictures of the cakes around the writing and in the right-hand corner ...

Advantages: Taste great, look nice Disadvantages: Some of the stuff from this range i havent really liked as much and it is slightly
PACKAGING These come in a long cardboard box with various different colours of pink occupying the front of it. :Angel slices" is written on the front of it and the word "angel" is written in quite fancy writing with a halo above the letter a. Also written on the front it tells you that it has "no artificial colours" or flavours and is twin packed for freshness. Inside there is six angel slices and two in each packet. Advantages: look nice; convenient packaging Disadvantages: bland
Angel Cakes are so called because they are traditionally made with no fat, though some 'Angel cakes' are simply given this title because they are so light and sponge, yet secretly calorie and fat laden - as with this. Yes, Mr Kipling’s 'Exceedingly good' Angel cakes are certainly not 'good' in the nutritional value. Taste wise? - well, I'll consider....
Mr Kipling’s Angel slices come in a box with 6 plastic containers covered with a plastic protective ... ...slice is 6cm long and 2.5cm thick. They look really cute and appealing. The sponge is equally divided into a light pink base and a light yellow top. Each coloured layer is separated by a thin gooey white middle. The sponge is topped with a lovely thick white icing which is marked with little pink zigzag patterns like a French Fancy.
The packaging makes them really handy for putting into lunch boxes or taking out on picnics. Plus, by giving only ...

Whenever I eat birthday cake it is the icing I am really after, yes I do eat the cake itself, but I often find it a bit dry. Mr Kipling's Angel Slices are like little slices of perfect birthday cake, they are 3x3x7cm and are made up of a vanilla flavour filling sandwiched between a pink and a yellow layer of sponge; this is topped with a layer of soft icing - you don't have to sacrifice your enjoyment by having icing free bites! The cakes are soft ... ...too sweet so don't leave the sickly feeling that some other cakes do. Each slice contains 137 calories and 6.4g of fat so may even be eaten as a treat for dieters.
Mr Kipling has been very clever and come up with an idea that increases both gluttony and freshness - the slices are wrapped in pairs, coming in little white plastic trays in a clear plastic wrap. Wrapping the cakes in pairs means that having one slice does not expose all the slices to ...

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, perfect for parties Disadvantages: Slightly bland
Being so in love with MrKiplingsAngelSlices when I saw this cake on offer at Sainsburys I decided to give it a go.
In comparison to the AngelSlices, this comes as a cake 'slab' the packet suggests an eighth is a slice but for a good inch thick piece i'd say a sixth is a better option :) Per eight it is just under 150 calories so dont go eating the whole thing lol
Unlike the picture shown my lower slice of cake was yellow, with pink in the middle and white on the top, with vanilla filling holding it all together.
Now whats a proper review without a taste test (hard life aint it) so I settled down with a cup of tea and indulged..... First impression was :( it wasnt half as good as my usual AngelSlices (MrKipling obviously knows what hes doing) It had quite a bland taste and a dry texture, whereas the slices are so moist ...
Advantages: Cake and cream and icing, luverly Disadvantages: Erm, they are a bit sickly
Oh MrKipling, how do I love thee, you make the most divine creations for my mouth only. I thank you for your AngelSlices, Bakewell Slices, and Strawberry Sundaes but most of all for your French Fancies. Sounding more like a delectable lady from a Parisian bordello, they are divine little cakes.
These little delectables are definitely going to catch your eye on the shelf. Its the usual red and orange with a swirl of pink. They've also got pictures of the cakes on the front, alas again not life size, boo! A very nice pictures shows one cut in half to expose the sponge and cream, and noticing a baragainous 8 in a pack!.
Whoops, I suppose I'd better tell you what they are! They are cubes of sponge, with a dollop of cream on the top covered in icing. They come in lovely chocolate, pink and yellow icing with stripes of contrasting ...
Advantages: Very tasty and sweet Disadvantages: Too much packaging
I'm well known within my family for have a craving with all things sweet, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Whether it's sweets, cakes, chocolates, pies or any other sugar-loaded product, I'm a sucker for them!
So it was on my last shopping trip at the local Asda that I picked up a pack of Mr. Kiplings Bakewell Slices. Now, seeing as it was a Mr. Kipling product, I didn't hesitate as you normally expect nothing but the sweetest from them.
The first thing you have to be aware of when purchasing anything from the Mr. Kipling 'slices' range, is that all the packaging looks the same. A reddish-orangey box with the familiar Mr. Kipling logo in an oval shape on the top. The only way to distinguish which cake slices you are getting from the range (as there are AngelSlices, Almond Slices, Lemon Slices, Country Slices and Chocolate Slices ...
