I have always liked a yoghurt as a quick and tasty desert after a main meal, I also think yoghurts are great for breakfast or even a snack! I remember when I first had a fruit corner, I was around 10 and the idea of a yoghurt and a separate corner filled with fruit in a syrup, to be added at your convenience was very novel.
Fruit Corners are one of the many dairy products produced by Muller, which was founded in 1896 by Ludwig Muller who owned a very small Bavarian dairy farm, however the hard work put in by Ludwig has paid off, the company now which is run by his grandson Theo made in 2003 over £265 million and employs over 2,400 people. It was in the 1980’s when the spilt pot, fruit corner idea, became such a worldwide success that the company really took off. Now Muller produce many different and exciting dairy products, however I see the fruit corner as a classic!
As touched on earlier fruit corners include a pot of plain yoghurt, with a separate corner of small fruit pieces in a sweet syrup. The idea of fruit corners is to add the fruit syrup when you chose to. You can either mix the fruit into the yoghurt or you can lay the fruit syrup on the top. The good thing about the spilt pot idea as you can add as much or as little fruit syrup as you like.
From the success of fruit corners there are also a lot of variations on the market, which are produced by Muller, such as Yogz, which are aimed at children, where instead of adding fruit you add a separate portion of crunchy biscuits. You can even get Kelloggs corners, where the yoghurt is flavoured and you add popular cereals in, such as rice krispies. However I feel that the classic fruit corner is the most accessible product as it appeals to many people.
The packaging of fruit corner’s haven’t really changed very dramatically since they arrived on the scene. The plastic packaging is fairly large in comparison to a normal yoghurt container. The foil lid which covers the yoghurt varies depending on which variety of fruit corner you have purchased. The peach and apricot lid is covered in photographs of scrumptious peaches and apricots, which are very inviting. The classic design of the packaging makes the fruit corner very appealing, is urges quality and richness. However that is just the foil lid, what happens when you actually peel it off?? Expect to be hit with a very refreshing, but sweet smell. As soon as you peel off the lid, which can be removed very easily, you can almost smell how cool and refreshing the plain yoghurt is. However visually the corner which contains the fruit pieces in syrup isn’t so inviting. The actual amount of fruit is minimal and most of the pieces look like they have had all the life sucked out of them, they are shrivelled and not visually appealing. Once you catch a whiff of the fruit syrup, however, you will not be so put off. It is sweet, thick (the thickness of honey) and very tempting.
Once you get your spoon into the yoghurt you will be impressed. It is as thick as it looks. The taste of the yoghurt is divine, I have to admit I sometimes prefer it to the fruit syrup! It is extremely creamy and refreshing, and it almost has a unique taste that no other yoghurt has. When you add the fruit syrup to the yoghurt you will be surprised to know that the sweetness of the syrup doesn’t detract from the creaminess of the yoghurt. The two compliment each other very well and taste great, the sweet syrup is not overpowering and although doesn’t taste as good as fresh peaches or apricots, it does remind me of them! The actual impact of the fruit would have been stronger if the pieces would have been larger and more plump, as I found some of the pieces were actually chewy. I’m sure it would not only taste better with more fruit pieces added in, it would probably be a lot healthier as I don’t like to think how much sugar is contained within that syrup! When looking at the back of the packet it tastes that there is 21% syrup with 42% peach and 15% apricot. I am very surprised by reading this as it definitely does not seem that much fruit when you taste the product. A strong point about fruit corners is that even though they sound like they could be overpowering after a few spoons, they aren’t. They fill you up in a very light way.
Although they may not seem it but Fruit corners are quite nutritional, in a 175 g container it contains 15% of your Recommended daily allowance of calcium, which is good to know while your enjoying yourself eating your fruit corner.
You can now purchase fruit corners in a bumper pack, which contains six of the yoghurts in three different flavours, these include peach and apricot, cherry and strawberry. However if you would like to try a fruit corner first an indviudal one is only around 37 pence and they are often on special offers.
I recommend Muller fruit corners for anyone who enjoys yoghurts, for after a main meal or for a snack.
Advantages: tasty, healthy (ish) Disadvantages: can get messy if feeding them to kids!
...house containing five children! The Muller fruit corners can always be found nestling on the bottom shelf of our fridge, and my mother buys so many that they usually take up the whole shelf. This is what has happened, once again, so we have been told that we need to eat them all up so that we have room in the fridge for the masses of Christmas food soon to be taking up residence there. Fine by me! I said, and grabbed the nearest one to me - a Peach ... ...for 2 offers on them. And with sugar surprisingly being fairly low on the list of ingredients, why not eat two at a time?! Advantages: Nice flavours, on offer, nice pot Disadvantages: Yogurt slightly bitter, small fruit peices
...was little and I enjoyed Muller corners on a daily basis, one of the only fruit ones that I liked was the strawberry. The thought of anything else such as peach, or cherry repulsed me and up until around three weeks ago, they still didn't appeal! My mum always tried to wein me away from the chocolate-laden yogurts, and onto the fruitier types, however I was reluctant and I always one the fight!
Around three weeks ago however, I noticed an offer ... ...Muller corners sell for 54p each, however the current offer means you can buy 10 corners for a measly £2. This works out at 20p per corner, which if i'm right in thinking, is amazing! The first time we took up Asda on the offer, I hurridly threw ten dessert and crunch corners into our trolley, before my mum could try and persuaed me otherwise. However the next time, I was feeling a little more flexible, and so into our trolley went various fruit ...

Advantages: tasty, fruity, cheap Disadvantages: Not too healthy
Normally, I'll opt for the low-calories, fat free yoghurts, but now and again I'll treat myself, and buy something new/ The Müller fruit corners seemed quite appealing, and my attention was drawn to one particular flavour; Peach & Apricot.
The deep yellow lid was quite attractive and as I peeled it off with ease, I discovered the contents in the split plastic pot was just as appealing. There was no distinctive scent straight away, but after a few ... ...nose.
When I'm faced with variety in texture or flavour, I always try each option individually first. The sunny yellow fruit section was a delight. It had a strong apricot taste to it, and an interesting texture, complete with ;large juicy peach pieces. The vanilla yoghurt tasted simple and sweet as expected, with its cool and creamy texture. The combined foods were ferfect together, providing a thick and refreshing treat.
I hadn't expected this ...

Advantages: Tastes great, looks good, smells good Disadvantages: A bit high in calories
...I decided to try a Muller Fruit Corner in the Peach and Apricot flavour.
The carton is about 4 inches square and a couple of inches deep with a picture of peaches and apricots on one corner of the lid (now there’s a surprise!) and a picture of a spoonful of yoghurt with peach and apricot topping on the other corner. All in all it is a very appealing package, especially if you love both peaches and apricots as I do.
The contents weigh 175g and the ... ...the taste test. Yes! Another Muller success! It tastes lovely. The fruit tastes fresh but not too sweet and the yoghurt is creamy with a slight vanilla taste and again not too sweet.
The level of sweetness is just right to give myself a sweet treat without it being so sweet that it tastes synthetic or sickly.
I continued to eat my Fruit Corner by taking a bit at a time from each side of the pot, but you could equally empty the fruit into the yoghurt ...

Advantages: Healthy, the yoghurt tastes nice Disadvantages: the fruit is sickly, the adverts
Why oh why did I agree to eat healthily? Because I would hear nothing but whining if I didn’t agree to it.
It was only last week when I was still eating my 4 slices of toast with a thick spread of butter on them, Pot Noodles every other day, and a huge feast of Indian/Chinese/Italian takeaways on an evening.
So what am I doing sitting here now with a yoghurt for my breakfast?
Keeping Rachael happy, that’s what.
Have some cereal then?, nah I’m ... ...the fridge I have 3 fruit corners from Muller. A Peach and Passion Fruit one, a Strawberry one, and a Blackcurrant one. The first is the one I’m going to tell you about.
Relatively cheap at 99p for three at Asda, or bought separately for 39p, these yoghurts will be my breakfast until I can be bothered to actually get out of bed before Rachael. She’s an angel really, a cup of tea waiting for me when I rise, then after my shower my breakfast is waiting ...

A Mullerfruitcorner comes in a handy tub with a very creamy rich vanilla plain yogurt on one side and a fruit compote on the other. The pot allows you to fold over the fruit side into the vanilla yogurt for ease of mixing. I find though that it is sometimes nice to just have a mouthful of the plain yogurt as even by itself it's really very good.
The fruit section is not too big but just enough to give some flavour to the yogurt. The best thing about it is that it actually contains big chunks of the fruit. For example the blackberry and raspberry flavour contains almost full size blackberries and also the pips from the raspberries. This to me says that the fruit ...
