I have been wanting to write this review for ages, however ciao took about a month deciding weather or not to accept the bloomin' thing! Much to my delight though, I recieved an email yesterday telling me my "Smooth Peach" had been accepted! About time too!
I have enjoyed Mulleryogurts from a very young age. It all started when I was about 5 years old and I went to stay with my grandparents for a week while my mum was in hospital. This week was the first time I was ever introduced to Muller. My first experience being with Muller Corners! I devoured many a crunch corner in my younger years, and then when I was about eleven I discovered the Muller jellies, which I'm not sure if they were discontinued. Then when I was about thirteen I had an obsession with strawberry fruit corners, however like most things that died down after a couple of months! It's only been in the past couple of months that I was introduced to Muller Lights. A
low fat yogurt made my Muller- surprisngly!
I am not a fan of "bitty" yogurts, and I'd much rather have a nice smooth one! For a while I was in love with the dessert type Muller lights, such as Toffee, Vanilla and Banana & Custard. However one day when I went to the fridge to retrieve one, I was very upset to discover there wasn't any left. In fact, the only single yogurt that sat in the fridge that one day was, and Apricot Muller light. I wasn't very impressed, as it was very watery and most of all it didn't please me because of the stringy bits! I did enjoy the flavour though and I went on a quest to find a smooth version! I did not succeed however! I did come across another delicious looking flavour however and much to my delight it was a smooth one! This particular one was Smooth Peach.
COST; When I first purchased these in Asda, they were on a brilliant offer. Five muller lights for £1! This was a fantastic offer while it lasted! There is still an offer on however the offer has lowered to 4 yogurts for £2. As each yogurt retails for 54p each, this isn't a massive saving! Each yogurt is 200g which is a large quantity of yogurt! So although 54p for a single yogurt seems quite cheap it isn't so bad as you first think!
APPEARENCE; Now some muller yogurts are more appealing from the packets than others! I think the smooth peach yogurts is one of the less appealing! The pot is plastic and mainly white in colour! Muller is written on the foil lid in white writing on a red background and underneith LIGHT is written in fancy blue writing! The flavour is also written on the foil lid this time being, Smooth Peach! On the lid there is a picture of 4 juicy looking segements of peach! This intices me and gets my tastebuds waiting in anticipation! Around the actual pot, ingredients are written and nutrition information is stated! All in all, although the pot isn't very exciting looking it does provide lots of neccessary information and a fabulous picture!
APPEALING; Before opening I'd reccomend shaking so that it isnt too watery when you first open up! When you peel the foil lid back, you are usually spurted with a little of the yogurt so make sure you open up carefully! The peach yogurt looked glorious when I first opened it! It didn't look watery but to make sure of it, I gave a firm stir! The spoon eased through the yogurt, and it felt quite thick! The colour was infact peach, a lightish orangish colour! It looked gloriously smooth and I couldnt wait to tuck in. There wasn't a prodominant smell really. Though a slight smell of fruit could be detected!
THE REAL TEST; After much anticipation, I spooned some of the creamy yogurt onto my spoon! Eventually, I spooned some of the delicious looking yogurt into my mouth and all I can say was that it was delicious! The taste definitly resembled peach that is for sure! It was very creamy but it didn't taste like cream, if you understand? It was also very sweet, and slightly sour! Once I had polished off the yogurt I was left feeling full and satisfyed. The quantity of yogurt seemed large compared to other ones I had previously tried however although a lot of yogurt it was worth the full feeling afterwards!!
NUTRITION; In my reviews, I don't usually name a paragraph "Nutrition". Normally, due to the fact that the thing I am reviewing contains no nutrition whatsoever! However this is slightly different! For starters, each 200g pot contains only 94 calories! And although the pot states it is fat free, it does contain the teenyist amount of fat! The yogurt also contains over 30% of your reccomend daily calcium allowance so it's definitly worth it!! Sadly, Muller lights contain a sweetner called Aspartame which some people are not too fond of! Studies show that too much Aspartame can lead to many problems, including weight gain! However I wouldn't worry about this too much, these are a great low fat alternitive to a pudding such as ice cream, however I dont think that more than one a day would do you too good! Obviously these yogurts contain milk so are not suitable for those with intolerances!!5 Sense Summary
Sound- n/a
Sight- peach coloured, smooth looking yogurt
Texture- smooth creamy
Scent- fruity- slightly peach
Taste- strong peach, creamy, fruity!
RECCOMEND; Yes I would definitly reccomend these! Although they are not practical for childrens lunch boxes, they are definitly suitable for a little snack mid morning or returning home from school! They are also delicious drizzeled over fruit, or over cereal. Overall they are extremely versatile and can satisfy a craving for something sweet!!
