The usual happened today whilst popping into my local store for just a pint of milk and a loaf of bread, I came out with more, I always do. I always browse on the end of the aisles where they often have the "Special Offers" and B.O.G.O.F.'s.

I am quite partial to the apple so bought one of those and I just had to try the strudel one as well.
The pot is the same size (220g) and shape of the others, coloured over in a sort of brown colour, with brown/orange wording that the fact that it is a special edition. The wording apple strudel up in the top left corner. The wording along the bottom is creamy dairy rice with apple strudel sauce. Pulling back the foil lid you are greeted with a creamy mixture, no smell has hit me yet. It is not until I put in my spoon and lifted the mixture that I could smell a cinnamon smell, nothing too strong, and upon lifting up my spoon I am met with a browny coloured mixture from the bottom, which is obviously the sauce and the smell of cinnamon. I always eat mine cold, the texture is quite solid at the top of the dessert and more creamy like as you delve deeper into the pot.
The main ingredients listed on the side of the pot, are rice, apple, dextrose, milk, sugar and cinnamon amongst others. Nutritional information per 100g are energy 120kcal, protein 3.1g and carbohydrate 21.8g.
I tend to keep mine in the fridge for a snack or as a pudding after tea, but the kids have been known to have one in their lunchbox.
A bit of brief history for those that are interested. In 1896 Ludwig Muller (who else) established his Bavarian dairy, and today is ran by his grandson. In 1988 after much popularity the brand was launched nationwide. Now, the company has been awarded super brand of the year status for the second year running.
Oh, by the way I titled it Whirlpool because as the Strudel is originally from Germany/Austria and The origin of the word itself is said to have come from the Middle High German word for whirlpool, Strudel.
